The author of many publications (including articles and a university grammar guide), I've been helping clients find the right words for 15 years. As an article writer, technical author (ISTC member), ghostwriter, editor (line and copy), biographer, subtitler and transcriber (with UX design, police, legal and insurance experience, to name a few areas), I have a keen eye for detail and emphasis. It's helped individuals find better ways of presenting their words, and themselves, as well as given brands better results from messages and government agencies greater efficiency regarding procedures.
Messages can nearly always be fine-tuned beyond what a writer might believe feasible. It takes a honed eye to arrive at that pithier spearhead. Precision is precious—and an over-reliance on software foolhardy. From a career comprising many thousands of hours' contact with a wide range of subjects, I'm thoroughly versed in terminology from many disciplines and have contractually produced output ranging from full-length guidebooks to tweet-length educational aids, providing voice-over accompaniment on the latter.
My M.A. in Biography (combining English and History) is complemented by my T.E.F.L. (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification and diploma in Freelance and Feature Writing from the London School of Journalism. In 2003, I founded my editing service, bringing it to Upwork in 2015. Words are my life.
In 2015, the commissioned guide to English grammar my co-author and I composed for students at a Canadian university was released after a successful launch and media reception, topping Winnipeg's bestseller list for weeks. I'm also the author of three works of fiction, all available for sale, and have won international awards for short stories.
Whatever your project's scope, you have in me a skilled, educated eye who is a native English speaker and carefully researches before writing to order. I produce all types for writing for writers of all types. Your specifications and goals become mine in the name of the best possible product.
