John Francis Dela Vega

I'm Francis. I've been doing web development for about 18 years now, which is long enough that I started when PHP and jQuery were the hot new things.

These days I spend most of my time in React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind. I've built all kinds of stuff over the years. Dashboards, e-commerce sites, healthcare apps, lead generation platforms, analytics tools. The common thread is that I care about how things actually feel to use, not just whether the code runs.

I'm not purely frontend though. I've done plenty of backend work with Laravel, Node.js, and PostgreSQL, and I still think that way even when I'm just building the client side. It helps when you understand what's happening on the other end of the API.

I've worked remotely my entire career, mostly with small distributed teams. At one point I was a tech lead managing a few developers, handling architecture decisions, code reviews, and sprint planning on top of my own coding work. I liked that mix.

I'm also working on my own thing on the side. It's a voice AI product, and building it keeps me close to stuff like workflow automation, real-time systems, and shipping fast without overengineering.

Outside of work I read a lot about AI, crypto, product thinking, whatever I find interesting at the moment.

If you're looking for someone who can own frontend work end-to-end and doesn't need a lot of hand-holding, I'm probably a good fit.
