Jared Cassidy Network and server (physical & cloud) engineer (remote experienced) I am currently running a company with a partner that offer server and networking support. Our major project with the local government is coming to an end soon, due to it being replaced by a national project. I am currently both customer facing and performing backend work on the servers and networks. I am fortunate to be able to work with what I am passionate about and spend most of my free time online figuring out new systems and equipment. I am busy completing the AWS certifications, just passed SysOps Associate. Developed internet gateway/firewall solution for clients to log and control staff internet access. Gateway was based on Freebsd operating system with other open source software. Main client was district municipality to control and report on staff internet useage. Developed and maintain a online photo printing website ​www.photospace.co.za​ . Uploading of images, shopping cart, credit card processing. Recently moved the system over to AWS, using S3 for storage and EC2 for web server & mysql/MariaDB October 2008 - March 2017 Project: Connect with Cacadu municipality library project We were asked to design and implement infrastructure for a new project to be rolled out to approx 30-40 libraries in the municipality’s area. Working with the desktop software developers we implemented a system with a main database server with each library having their own server with a synchronised copy of the database to deal with the subpar telecom uptime expected in the rural library locations. Products used: Freebsd, Mysql, Squid, Apache, samba, ipfw, icinga2 Jan-March 2016 BulletProof Networks - Cloud Support Engineer (Remote) Briefly worked at Bulletproof Networks performing support for AWS and private cloud customers. Unfortunately due to a temporary health problem I elected to resign Other Work June 2004 - October 2009 BayFM - Part Time Technical Manager, maintained broadcast studio, network and FM transmission.
