Toddler runs to hug pizza delivery guy – unaware he just lost his daughter
This heartwarming story of a toddler rushing to hug a pizza delivery man reminds us that sometimes,
a simple act of random kindness can go a long way.
It is a regular night in West Warwick, Rhode Island for Lindsey Sheely and her son, Cohen when they
decided to order a pizza from their local pizza joint.
As per usual, the delivery guy arrived on time and makes his way inside the wooden patio to hand out
the food and takes the payment so that he can continue his route. Just another typical pizza delivery,
so far.
The pizza guy was about to head out when suddenly, an excited toddler rushed over to give him a
warm hug and even attempts to kiss him. They both shared a brief, yet heart-warming embrace before
they bid each other goodnight.
Lindsey was touched with her son’s pure kindness and remembered that she had a camera installed
at her door. She instantly uploaded the short video on her Instagram (link) and wrote, ” We thought it
was so sweet and funny, then realized that our doorbell might have caught the interaction on camera,
and it did!! I hope it gives you a laugh and warms your heart like it did for us.”
This heartwarming moment had a great impact on most of her followers as one commented, “I hope
and pray that light in your son will never be dimmed, the world needs people like him.”
The viral video made its way to Ryan Catterson, the pizza delivery guy and he decided to reach out to
Lindsey to express his gratitude towards her son. Little did the family know that he recently lost his
beloved daughter a week before.
“After losing my daughter this past week, it touched me because it was like she was there. It really just
meant a lot to me,” he told ABC6.
Ryan’s daughter was living with her ex-wife, Danielle McCord who was also deeply touched after
seeing the video.
She goes on to tell ABC6, “It’s so easy to miss people and their internal pain,” adding “even with our
daughter, we didn’t know her pain. I can’t help but be grateful that someone saw his pain and could be
there for him.”
Most of the viewers of the video were completely moved with this magical moment and have
proceeded to send out donations to Ryan’s GoFundme initiative for his daughter’s funeral services.
The donation drive closed to a whopping $31,012, thanks to the exposure in various social media and
news platforms.
It is never hard to show kindness to everyone as all of us have our battles to deal with. We live in a
fast-paced world where most of the time, we get used to our daily routines and sometimes forget the
things that make us happy, content, and our values in life. This uplifting story is proof that you can
never go wrong in being kind to one another and that sometimes, all we need is a hug.
