James Rogoi is the author of The Beasts Under Your Bed, his first book that tells the story of the everyday struggles of the down trodden youth of Nairobi and their fight to keep their heads above water in an increasingly cutthroat society. The story is told through the eyes of a young man who represents many in modern-day Nairobi.
He is part of the collective of authors who published the short story anthology, A Slice of Darkness for Breakfast in 2022.
Rogoi is currently in the research process for his second solo project which tells a fictionalized version of Yusuf bin Hasan alias Dom Jeronimo Chingulia, one of only a handful of Kenyans to have held power and control on Fort Jesus in the 17th century, at the height of Portuguese might.
Rogoi writes for the Lifestyle Section of Business Daily and the Nation Media Group’s Saturday and Sunday Magazines as well as a content writer for Msafiri, Kenya Airways’ inflight magazine. His fiction has also been featured on Sisi Afrika.
He resides in Nairobi with his wife and three boys.
