James Carmichael Sherman Jr

My name is James Sherman. I received my bachelor's and master's degree in computer science from Georgia Tech in May of 2023 and 2024 respectively. My studies concentrated on the fundamentals of AI and machine learning, but I also gained experience with backend development. I spent a summer as an AI consulting intern for a venture capital firm, where I got to work hands-on with several startup companies doing various projects in full-stack application development and prompt engineering.

My previous role started shortly after I finished school in May of 2024 as an Associate Software Engineer at Ameris Bank, where I worked on the Integration Team developing and maintaining ETL pipelines, developing API's, and managing an on-premise file transfer system for automating file transfers in and out of the bank. I was promoted to Software Engineer after one year with the company for recognition of my hard work and attention to detail. I later voluntarily left the company to pursue roles more aligned with my college experience.

I am currently seeking a more data driven role, whether it be backend development or a more data science role; my knowledge and practical skills involving Python, SQL, integration, and open-source technologies such as LangChain, sqlalchemy, pandas, PyTorch, requests, and much more align perfectly with such roles.
