RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
Ongoing Project: Brain Activation based Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) Detection using Deep Learning
Research project implementing in Python and MATLAB.
Problem Statement: Due to AD’s progressive and irreversible nature, early detection of the disease is mandatory
and challenging.
Progress: Different modalities of brain imaging are helpful for the early detection of AD. Different stages of the
disease are predicted using structural brain MRI.
Recent Project: Analysis of DNA Methylation Data of Kidney Clear Cell Carcinoma
Research project implemented in Python and R.
Problem Statement: Images data have been analyzed for cancer detection, but textual (genomics) data may have
more information than images.
Results: Analyzed DNA methylation (textual) data of kidney clear cell carcinoma and corroborated that the DNA
methylation pattern in tumor samples is way different than normal samples. Also analyzed that DNA methylation
pattern is different in stages, genders, and ages.
Future Directions: This research can lead towards precise (personal) medicines in the future for cancer patients.
COVID-19 Calculator: Pandemic Predictions based on SEIR Model
Development project implemented in Python and MATLAB.
Implemented COVID-19 pandemic calculator, which predicts peak exposed, infectious, hospitalized, and dead based
on different input parameters. Also indicates the end date of COVID-19.
MS Thesis Research: Motion Fields based Video Classification with Deep Learning
Software-based research project implemented in MATLAB.
Problem Statement: Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) performance depends on representational capacity
and the depth of the network, which leads to an increase in inference time and hinders real-time deployment.
Methodology: Block matching algorithms-based motion fields of videos provide a smaller but richer representation
of frames which results in potential acceleration of CNN by decreasing input size and hence the depth of the network.
Results: Resulted in improved accuracy and more than 20× faster inference.
Future Direction: Want to deploy my proposed architecture on hardware.
BS Final Year Project: Wireless Sensors Based Task Migration in Internet of Things
Hardware-based research project implemented in Assembly language using microcontrollers.
Problem Statement: Load balancing is needed when thousands of devices/sensors are interconnected on a local
network.
Methodology: Migration of tasks from local range to global range can control the traffic. We have designed
intelligent algorithms for the microcontroller, which migrate tasks to a cloud in case of load wirelessly.
