I refereed a wide variety of players aging from 5 - 50 throughout my three youthful years as a basketball referee. I was first
employed at the age of 14 but decided it wasn't for me when I was completing my year 12 education at 17
I reffed both domestic (local) games as well as the rep basketball games when I became more advanced. This taught me
how to not only be assertive and interact with customers (players, coaches, other referees and spectators) but also how to
make decisions in a split second. In a basketball game you need to make decisions (calls) on the spot and be reactive as
opposed to proactive to the game taking place before you. This definitely assisted me greatly in my day to day life making
me significantly faster at not only making decisions in general, but making the appropriate ones for that specific situation.

Throughout my stressful year 12 I needed a way to make a few bucks on the side to sustain the expenses of being a
teenager, so I decided to start my own photography / videography company.
At first I was the only person working for the business as I had a passion for my work and I obviously didn't have the
expenses to hire someone else. However after it started to gain some more traction and clients I decided to recruit a few
employees, 2 editors and one graphic designer to assist with making logos / business cards etc.
I was more than capable of doing everything myself skills wise, but the business was gaining too many customers to keep
up with by myself so I started delegating.
Throughout my one year journey I have managed to acquire almost 50 clients with one of them being a nightclub going by
the name of Mynt and another being a dance event going by the name of the "Marination Station". Mynt is currently a
regular client of mine and we have plans to grow my skills an network's further in the coming years.
I have decided to try pursue something else now that I have completed school and have time on my side. My experience as
an event photographer has taught me a variety of skills and lessons such as:
• How to communicate with a large variety of people and make them laugh (the best photos are taken when the subjects
are genuinely laughing)
• How to be punctual and arrive to places on time
• How to best market a service to get the customer / client intrigued
• How to hire an employee
• How to manage money
• And much much more!
