Hi, my name is Iris. I'm a Filipino and currently working as a teacher in an international school in Laos. I've been teaching for more than ten years and would like to start a career in freelancing.
The Covid-19 issue made me realized that having one source of income is not enough to support a family. After a week of work, I would relax on the weekends and watch movies. Since there's a sudden change in the situation, I decided to look for new ways to improve my self and be more productive.
Since the government of Laos, in which I'm a resident of, ordered a lock-down to its capital, I was able to experience how to work from home. I took advantage of the situation and equipped myself with the necessary skills needed to be a successful freelancer. I enrolled in a few online courses such as Social Media Management and English for Freelancers. I've met a few people who inspired me to pursue this new career I'm building.I read articles and watch videos about social media management. I've learned how to use different platforms to optimize an account and schedule posts. I can use my expertise in communication to find more potential clients. I can create plans and campaigns that could help attract partners and grow business.
Having said these, being hired is also one of the short term goals. To be able to work in the same client for a long time can lead to long term goals and could open more opportunities to succeed. I hope to be an inspiration to others someday. To be able to share my success stories and experiences with others who will also try to shift from office-based to home-based jobs.
I hope I was able to give you short but concise answers about myself and my thoughts about being a social media manager. I hope you will consider me to guide and assist you in your business.
