Innocent Udeogu

Innocent Udeogu is a remote-first software engineer with a speciality in building web, mobile and data products. 

With a Project Management degree from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Innocent has played major roles in the software he has helped build. Innocent is an alumnus of MEST Africa and an Andela Engineer.

I currently lead an engineering a team as a senior software engineer at Violetgrey.com, a venture-backed beauty-commerce based on Los Angeles. At violet grey, I am delivering new software features while scaling existing codebase in a multi-language multi-stack environment - Ruby On Rails, Go, React, Sidekiq, Redis, Postgres, Rabbitmq, Netsuite Integration, Spree and a suite of other third-party applications.

Before violet grey, I worked for getquip.com, an oral-tech company based in New York. As part of the Customer Experience engineering team, I helped deliver several software updates and re-writing existing workflows to make the work of customer experience agents faster and better. The technology used includes Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq, Redis, Postgres, Google Data Studio and BigQuery.

I have also served as CTOs in two technology startups.

Oncenout.com (2 years) was a venture-backed fashion-re-commerce platform.

Ubenwa.ai (3 years) analyses a baby’s cry to detect early signs of anomalies which could be fatal such as asphyxia or brain-injury using machine learning.

I am a life-long learner and believes in adding value to the team. To this end, I have taken several coursera courses to add my knowledge of business and data science.

Divercity.io - LinkedIn for minors - served as lead the engineering team to deliver new features on the platform.

I won the first machine learning hackathon in Nigeria organized by Hotels.ng, the largest hotel booking platform in West Africa.

I have also built several opensource technologies such as a Ruby on Rails gem for Amplifypay.com (recently acquired by OneFi Nigeria), Wordpress plugin for Asoriba.com (Ghana) and several other open sources contributions in the form of packages.
