PROJECT HISTORY
Business Intelligence System
I designed various dimensional models and ETL processes for the Real People home improvement financial
business to allow various divisions such as Credit Risk, Treasury and Sales be able to easily gain access to crucial
information in a timely manner. I managed a team of three business intelligence developers. The information
processed and provided to business included:
Provisions / Impairments on all our performing and non performing contracts
I worked closely with the Credit Risk team to understand and implement their scoring, pricing models,
loss given default methodologies to build processes that compute these answers using the Microsoft BI
stack.
Also provided several specialized reporting off the central data warehouse for our treasury division to
assist in the reporting that was used to report back to SPV’s (special purpose funding vehicles).
Also designed ETL procedures to import sales figures near real-time.
2nd Chance Systems
I designed and developed a set of C# services and Asp.Net web applications that was used to support an entire
product by providing applications necessary by call centre agents to interact with customers and keep a log of
discussions they had with customers. Also it serviced back office staff to facilitate the capturing of debts and
assisting our customers with obtaining reasonable settlements from various credit providers. During this project I
acted as IT Project Manager directing a team of 5 software developers and 1 business analyst and performing
expectation management.
Spawn Engine
This was a large WCF (windows service) written in C# which was responsible for processing new transactions in
large volumes, thus it had to implement several levels of threading to ensure that at least 8 cores (CPUS) were
used to effectively process large volumes of data. The transactions related to receipting, arrears adjustments,
housing costs, services fees, credit life, reversals etc. that would be ‘spawned’ via a set of conditions that was also
maintained by this system.
Information Assets
Maintained a C# windows smart client application that was used to classify, categorize and describe information
assets such as databases, tables, fields and relevant descriptions / meta data.
CV Truck Production Reporting System
Developed various interfaces between daily production reporting and transition processing systems relevant to
the CV truck production reporting system.
DA190 Supplier Certificate Manager
This was an Asp.Net web application that I developed that was hosted on the Mercedes Benz supplier portal that
allowed suppliers to capture their own DA190 tax certificates. They would have to submit this for tax purposes to
indicate the local vs. foreign components used in the product they supplied to the South African factory.

PROJECT HISTORY, CONTINUED
BBBEE (Broad based black economic empowerment) Internal Systems for Mercedes Benz SA
This was another Asp.Net web application that I developed to allow Mercedes Benz SA, DFM Financial Services,
and other ‘sister’ companies including Chrysler to capture their BEE scorecards.
This system was based on the BBBEE government gazette (At that time).
This system was successfully used to prepare MBSA for external audits and certification.
It interfaced with other systems to obtain supplier related costs etc.
All seven elements were implemented as per BEE gazette
Management and Control
Ownership
Employment Equity
Skills Development
Preferential Procurement
Socio Economic Development
Enterprise Development
Recruitment System
I developed an Asp.Net web application that was used to setup position profiles of all employees in the South
African office, and this was interfaced to the Lead & Sead system (mentioned below) to align those with staff goal
agreements.
Lead & Sead (Leadership Evaluation and Development, Staff Evaluation and Development)
This was an Asp.NET web application that I developed that was used for performance management throughout the
Mercedes Benz factory in East London. It was used to setup goal agreements and used to perform quarterly and
annual performance reviews on all employees. A full set up of quantitative and qualitative goals, behavior
assessments, and plan for staff development could be done using this application.
SQL 7 to SQL 2000 Upgrade Project
I was involved in a large project to upgrade SQL server databases from SQL 7.0 to SQL 2005, the project impacted
roughly 200 .NET windows and web applications as well as web services. I had to develop AMADS (see below) to
assist with this project.
AMADS (Application Management and Deployment System)
This was a VB.NET windows application that I developed to allow software developers to keep track of their
software versions. It was used to capture details such as executables, main functions, servers and databases
utilized by our applications. Basically it provided us with a landscape of our .NET application environment that
became useful when upgrading to new database server etc. to best / logically group our application artifacts.
LIMAS (Opportunities Database System)
This was an Asp.NET system that I developed that allowed users (at any level in the organization) to capture ideas
that would potentially improve production line efficiencies or directly contribute to cost savings.

PROJECT HISTORY, CONTINUED
ACAP
This was used by students at universities to submit their biographical and study information, this was an Asp.NET
web application that I developed that was hosted on the Mercedes Benz portal that could be used by externals
(students). This allowed us to keep a database of potential interns.
ETL Processes to transfer information between SAP and SQL databases
This was a set of SSIS packages that transferred information between SAP (via remote function calls) and SQL
Server databases. The purpose was to download (from SAP) various structures such as cost centre structures,
organizational structures, salary information, bill of materials, industrial engineering figures, and various others.
The SSIS packages also sent information back to SAP to update the SAP tables. Reason for this was that we
developed various .NET windows and web applications that allowed users to maintain data outside the SAP
platform and this data had to be sent back to SAP frequently.
NIPARS (New Integrated Planning and Reporting System)
This was a VB6 application that I took over and enhanced upon. It was used by the MANCON (manufacturing and
controlling) division for planning and reporting on BOM (bill of material) costing, deviation analysis, operative
planning of costs at high level.
VRS (Visual Reporting System)
Specialized VB.Net windows application that was designed to retrieve several data sets from SAP such as cost
centre hierarchies, cost accounting hierarchies, monthly overhead information.
This information was then used by the application to render various overhead related reporting which was
automated and output to Excel and PowerPoint.
SMADS (Survey Management and Deployment System)
This was a VB.NET application that allowed users within the organization to easily create questionnaires and also
automate sending out emails to participants. The actual questionnaire was delivered in the form of a hyperlink
which redirected users to an internal ASP.NET web application that I developed to enable participants to
complete the questionnaire. The VB.Net application was integrated with the organization structure in order to
easily view responses by division / departmental level etc.
SCS (Stock Control System)
Developed a VB6 application that interfaced with a scanner that would read employees access card and upon
successful read allow them to check out protective clothing and hand in protective clothing at the end a shift. Also
it would be used to check the inventory of protective clothing leaving the site for external cleaning and fixing to
ensure no items were stolen or lost.

Organization Structure Wizard Component
This was a COM component that I developed which plugged into Microsoft Excel. It was designed to source
information from a SAP output file and render the entire organization structure including open positions within
Excel by automating the drawing of a hierarchy which could further be filtered and changed by the end users – for
example all male contractors over a certain age could be rendered by using a different shape and/or colour.
Plant manpower reporting
This was a VB.net application that I developed that made use of data supplied by SAP (by this stage I had ETL
packages that imported SAP information into SQL databases on a regular basis). The application allowed
managers to view the ‘industrial engineering reports’ which listed all the stations on a production line and the
headcounts so that they could shift workers to different stations as the need arose and be able to print out reports
that was handed to team leaders to effect the staff relocation orders each day.
CHESS (Computerized Health and Environmental Surveillance System)
This was a Delphi application, my role was with the installation and setting up for replication between two sites
(East London and Gauteng) in order for on-site clinics at the Mercedes Benz factor and headquarters to log
medical incidents, diagnosis and medicines dispensed.
Access Control Archive Process
Developed a C++ library to effective archive large amount of time and attendance information that was hosted on
a SQL Server 7.0 database that captured factory worker’s times as they entered and left the factory and various
internal facilities.
Organization structure file format conversion for ARIS process modelling
C# Service which could convert a SAP standard format file into and XML format acceptable by the ARIS modeling
software containing organization structure details.
