I would first like to highlight the skills and abilities that I have learned and developed over the years that are in line with the job responsibilities for this position.
Negotiation skills: I on a daily basis negotiate with vendors and internal stakeholders to get the best deals in given circumstances. My negotiation strategy is to create a win-win situation for parties (especially in the case of strategic partners) and if there is no distributive potential I look for the optimal solution.
Negotiation is an integral part of procurement and the most important step is preparation before the meetings to identify BATNA ( best alternative to the negotiated agreement ) and study the different aspects of the contract under consideration, and after negotiation, I oversee the contract enforcement on agreed terms.
Procurement Portofolio Management:
I am responsible for a portfolio of 2000+ Sku in different categories. I ensure that there are no stockouts and that everything is in pipeline as per the budgeted growth. I ensure that cost and quality of the products are as per standards and that variances are communicated to the related parties. I am leading a team of seniors for product selections that are to be introduced and deciding what products are to be discontinued.
Data Analytics: I am particularly inclined towards data mining and analysis when it comes to making important purchasing decisions or analyzing product profitability before making further orders. I once analyzed product pricing data to identify outliers in invoicing of certain products where agreed-upon discount percentages were not applied and saving my company 15,000 USD in that quarter.
I am always analyzing the selling trends of all products before making future orders and deciding which products should be discontinued considering the market response.
Software and tools: I am well versed on working with ERP systems like SAP business one and Hana. I have advanced Excel skills and I know how to get my work done around data in excel. I have advanced skills in the costing of products and developing costing models for different categories.
For data presentation, I use Power BI apart from the traditional tools of Excel. I have an understanding of SQL for call data and working knowledge of the programming language R.
Teamwork & Communication: I am a part of a core team of 20 members and I have worked my way up to the top of the department now I manage a team of about 4 individuals. I have been reporting my department's KPI to the CEO and team and have good presentation skills as I do represent my company with external stakeholders.
