Employment Details:
October 2002 – June 2003
HI Tech Medical
Helgaard started working at Hi Tech Medical as a technician where he repaired various Medical
Equipment and instruments. Later he started going on Call outs to various hospitals to check and if
needed clean or repair equipment while medical procedure where performed.
July 2003 – December 2007
CellTech
At CellTech he took on the role as technician again where he would need to install Ericsson
cabinets and equipment in secure strict access environments. Some of these installations were done
at 12 at night or just after to avoid and minimise risk to the Telco customer. In this position he
quickly rose to site supervisor and often had to work as a 2-man team where they had to plan the
work on their own as they were alone in upper parts of Africa with very little to almost no
communication to head office. Managing finances, work flow and equipment became a week or day
to day routine. Managing your own time and recourses on your own is one of the skills sets he
learned at CellTech
January 2007 – February 2010
Ericsson
At Ericsson he started as Site supervisor and Splicer. Here he would learn to be part of a bigger
corporate world as he had to attend weekly operational meetings and give feedback and progress
on his team of 5 people. Collecting stock and planning a head week by week became normal while
managing his team and making sure they are on time for every job. Health and Safety became a big
roll and he went for health and safety training where he became ‘she rep’. Doing Vehicle
inspections, Tool box talks and various other safety requirements were the start of everyday.
February 2010 - September 2014
Citiconnect (Sister Company of Ericsson)
Ericsson created Citiconnect as a future plan to sell the company to the government of South Africa
(City of Johannesburg)
At Citiconnect he started as Site supervisor but quickly became Project manager and now had 4
inhouse teams composing of 5 people each and 5 major contractors with 3-4 teams each varying on
size. As the Project manager he started getting involved in planning of fibre routes and site builds
for MTN and MWEB including a network for COJ that would connect all Clinics, libraries, police
stations and some specified government buildings. Flourishing in the position he received the
responsibility of doing the maintenance on the entire network which consisted of 367 MTN Sites, 12
MWEB sites and the COJ network of over 4200 kilometres. This was no easy task as there was
a
4-hour SLA in place and reporting had to be done instantly when certain tasks where achieved and
call outs could come at any time. He managed to do his 8 to 5 job as project manager including the
maintenance which varied from calls happening at 12;00am to 04;00 am in the mornings. Doing so
lots of training had to be given to teams and contractors to make sure they meet the SLA times
including problem solving. Quality also played a huge roll and frequent site visits was needed to
ensure maximum quality and productivity.
September 2014 - February 2016
COJ / MTC (City of Johannesburg)
The Network was built and maintained and eventually sold to COJ as planned in 2010. Only a
skeleton crew was handpicked to stay onboard having the knowledge of the core business. Helgaard
Became the Operational manager for the entire network the government just acquired. He was
plunged into a corporate world with different rules and red tape. Operational meetings on time,
quality, SLA’s, planning and maintenance became more frequent and creating reports on the
mentioned aspects became a day-to-day routine. He now needed to shuffle teams around to do a lot
of problem solving, coordination and create new procedures to maintain quality, needed by their
newcustomers. Planning for the maintenance was a key factor in Success.
March 2016 – (TNJ 2019) QAC To Current
TNJ/ Boabab Green Studio

whom had tendered for government projects. He started as the Operations Manager quickly setting
into his environment getting the field force ready for any government related work. MTN and
Vodacom became the biggest customers to TNJ. Helgaard Became the Key account manager for MTN
and handled anything towards MTN from planning, Sales to fibre to the home. Him and his team of
Coordinators, project managers and team leaders made TNJ the only Preferred contractor out of 5
major contractors to MTN/HUAWEI. Later they became the National Contractor to MTN/Huawei now
not only seeing to MTN’s needs in the Gauteng region but nationally in South Africa. In 2018 He
received an Accolade from MTN/HUAWEI for the best performance and customer care.
During his time at TNJ he bought shares in a Pub and Grill restaurant. He then Left TNJ in 2019 and
started managing his business and various other projects. He put together a team and started a IT
company that did planning website, design, digital marketing, development and editing.
