Hobbies & Interests
4-H
I was involved in 4-H for 12 years, which led me to several opportunities in
volunteer work with homeless shelters, kids in need, such as sewing scarves for the
winter and working at Reach for the Stars, Kids Camp. I also participated at several State
4-H Horse Shows and at the Ann Arbor Art Fair.
High School Activities
Throughout my high school career I was involved in various sports and
organizations, which include the Varsity Swimming, Varsity Equestrian, Junior and Varsity
Soccer, Varsity Marching and Concert Band, and FFA. I attended several state
competitions for Swimming, Equestrian, Concert Band, and the FFA. In 2009, I also
received the Lisa Reardon Creative Writing Award from my high school. Through
swimming, I also worked as a coach to teach children how to swim. Through FFA, I was
part of organizing a day event, in which children learned about farms and how they
operate. I also helped raise chickens and pigs.
Editing
Throughout my undergraduate studies, I have taken 8 workshop classes in which I
was required to critique and edit my peers’ work, which developed a talent, as well as an
attraction, to editing and reviewing.
German
4
I discovered my interest of the German language and culture in my first German
class at Northern Michigan University. It has since grown and I am travelling abroad for
the- year in Germany to continue undergraduate studies, as well as tutoring.
