Mobilink Joins Hands with Uber for Strategic
Service Coverage
Mobilink has joined hands with world-renowned online ride-hailing brand Uber for providing strategic service
coverage to its driver-partners and subscribers.
Uber, worth $62.5 billion, is currently functional in 60 countries across the globe and is now set to begin its
operations in Pakistan with the help of the country’s largest 3G network, Mobilink. Mobilink will facilitate the
operations of the transportation service through its 3G mobile data infrastructure and will also provide
incentives to both driver-partners and riders for joining the service through select offers. Uber riders would be
able to have free access to Mobilink 3G Wi-Fi in a select number of rides, while Mobicash customers will be
able to enjoy the first ride for free as well. Mobilink will also provide driver-partners with subsidized
smartphones, as well as credit for mobile data and voice packages.
The agreement for the strategic partnership was signed by Azfar Manzoor, VP Business Services, and Loic
Amado, the Head of Expansion EMEA, representing Uber.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Azfar Manzoor stated, “Our partnership with Uber showcases our
leadership in the provision of state-of-the-art communication services to customers throughout the country.
We are thrilled to have joined hands with Uber in assisting them to cater to the transportation needs of our
country through new innovative solutions.”
Loic Amado, Head of Expansion, EMEA, Uber, said on the occasion that their company was excited to partner
with Pakistan’s largest telecom operator on a multi-faceted level. “We are grateful to the Mobilink team for
assisting in our vision of bringing about a shift in the cities of Pakistan through our services. By utilizing their
widespread network, we will ensure our users can travel countrywide with ease”.
Powered by Mobilink’s state-of-the-art 3G mobile internet, Uber is expected to prove to be a game-changer
for the Pakistani transportation market. The need for an easily accessible, convenient, secure, and quality
personal transportation has always been felt in Pakistan. Uber is expected to adequately fill that gap. More
people will have access to comfortable rides that too on fixed rates, eliminating the hassle of endless
bargaining.
In a press release, Uber has expressed confidence that the partnership will help the service to reach more
subscribers across Pakistan. The strategic partnership between the two companies is reflective of their shared
vision of a digitized Pakistan.
