Career Overview A senior English teacher with over ten years experience, I have extensive experience in researching, writing and planning teaching courses. My training as an archaeologist has equipped me with excellent research skills and my employment history has ensured that I have developed effective time management skills in order to perform at a high standard. Since having my twin sons in 2014, I have worked on a casual basis and have sought a new professional challenge in the form of embarking upon a freelance writing career. Employment History English Teacher 2007-Current I have been working as a high school English teacher for ten years. In this time, I have taught senior English, vocational classes and junior English and Humanities. I have held several positions of responsibility including Head of Department, Year Level Coordinator and Volleyball Coordinator. Since 2014 I have been on extended family leave after the birth of my twins but I am now working as a supply teacher. Writing 2015 – Current I began my blog tumbleweedsandtea.wordpress.com in 2014 as a way to record my experience as a new mother of multiples living in a fairly isolated rural community in Australia. This extended my love of writing for a range of purposes and allowed me to express myself and connect with other parents and writers. I have extensive experience writing for charitable organisations including creating newsletters, applying for grants and sponsorship and managing social media. I have experience writing for newspapers, have been commissioned to write an introduction for a cookbook, lobbying local government on behalf of community groups and brief biographies. I am able to write to a brief, have strong research, editing and proofreading and communication skills and complete work in a timely and professional manner.
