Hi I am Grazelle Edrosa, you can call me Grey for short. I am currently on floating status in my current employer. I am still on standby and waiting for them to call us back. I am not planning to stay there even more, thus, I am just waiting the right time to resign anytime this year. I am currently in Manila, Philippines, I took the unpaid leave my company offered, for the reason that it is best to stay with my family in these challenging times rather than staying Qatar and do nothing. Let me tell you my story.
I am a hard-working young lady with big dreams in life. I am indeed an explorer, I must say. Jumping to one field to another different industry was not easy. I graduated an engineering degree in a prestigious and well-known university in the country. I chose to take risks and leave out my comfort zone, that’s why I ended up in aviation as a cabin crew.
I had my own struggle at the first chapter of being a Cabin Crew. I dealt with people from different cultures, and I must say, that it is not only the guests on board that you have to deal with every flight but also your colleagues.
Thus, once a flight is a fun flight, it just means that I was with the best set of crews with same passionate hearts as mine. This industry taught me a lot of values.
Honestly, it mold me to always put my best foot forward. We have a high standard of services and I cannot take it for granted. We have to be the best of ourselves everyday even if we’re exhausted and dragging ourselves to work, for we have one thing in common and that is to make passengers safe and happy.
Leadership
In regards with my current job and experience I have managed and practiced my leadership skills onboard during the flights between me and my colleagues. Because, every flight, we have different roles and responsibilities.
As an economy cabin crew member, I’ve been always the Galley Manager which tasks are to cooperate, manage, deal and to do troubleshooting with my co-worker’s challenges or help them with their responsibilities.
Being a galley manager, has a major role in a flight, because it is our duty to check all our supplies and food will be enough throughout the flight. We have to oversee each and every equipment needed or else everything will turn out wrong.
Being in this industry, with this kind of job that I have to deal with every day, changed my personality. I was able to humble myself, I have managed my emotions by going through a lot of patience. They trained us to work with finesse and class. Gave us a lot of trainings for customers satisfaction end experience.
It is quite a critical role, but it is manageable. Also, the job would always be extra effective if all crew works and helps each other. It is where the saying goes ‘teamwork makes the dreamwork.’
