Gilbert Tijam

I worked as an MEPFS Engineer and Project Manager at Active Fire Design and Consultancy, a Jewish-operated American company based in New York, USA, from November 2023 to June 2025, where I handled the layout of fire sprinkler heads and plumbing systems in compliance with NFPA 13 and NFPA 14, performed hydraulic calculations, and managed multiple fire protection projects from design to documentation. I designed complete sprinkler systems from the water source up to the Inspection Test Connection (ITC) using AutoCAD MEP and AutoSPRINK 2024, prepared quantity take-offs and project cost estimates that served as the basis for technical proposals and bidding, and produced MEPFS and construction estimates using both manual methods and Bluebeam Revu. I also drafted detailed Engineering Reports for Professional Engineer review and signature, including system descriptions, riser diagrams, hydraulic data, and floor-by-floor layouts, with most projects involving residential, commercial, and high-rise buildings.

I worked as an MEPF Engineer at Black Harbor Build and Design, an American company based in Massachusetts, USA, from October 2022 to October 2023, where I designed HVAC duct layouts based on architectural drawings in compliance with ASHRAE standards and Massachusetts building codes. I also designed fire sprinkler systems and performed hydraulic calculations in compliance with NFPA 13, prepared plumbing layouts in accordance with US IBC and UBC, and produced MEPF estimates and bills of quantities. In addition, I handled administrative tasks such as email management, project scheduling, invoicing, and project tracking using the CRM platform Buildertrend, while supporting overall project management for residential and mixed-use developments.

I worked as an MEPF Engineer and Procurement Manager at Deka Sales Corporation, a Filipino company based in Bacolod City, Philippines, from 2017 to 2022, where I designed HVAC ducting systems and prepared detailed quantity take-offs and estimates. I also designed fire sprinkler systems and performed hydraulic calculations in compliance with NFPA 13, including preparation of bills of materials and cost estimates. My role included serving as a bidding officer for public sector projects, managing procurement for MEP and construction materials, performing administrative functions, and acting as a logistics facilitator to ensure timely delivery and coordination of project resources.
