Poul Due Jensen Foundation (Grundfos Foundation) The Denmark-based foundation donates a lot of money to humanitarian projects primarily focused on providing safe drinking water to poor rural communities around the world. I was engaged to document the Foundations activities in two rural communities in Kenya in 2016. Deliverables: i. I produceda series of raw video shots, which were used to come up with this storyon the sustainable water projects in the country. ii. I wrote at least one article for my blog. iii. I produced 5-10 high resolution photos. 2. Connecting Continents: I collaborated with two journalists – one from The Netherlands and the other from Denmark - on an investigative journalism project late 2015 trough to 2016, under a programme known as Connecting Continents. This was a grant programme bringing together a journalist in Europe with his/ her counterpart in Africa to investigate a topic of national and international importance. The culmination of this investigative project was the publication of a report known as A People In The Way of Progress. It investigated the controversy surrounding land acquisition by the Lake Turkana Wind Power consortium. This development wat the largest wind power project in the whole of Africa at the time. Journalism Awards: I was awarded the Zimeo Excellence in Media Award on November 12, 2015 in Johannesburg, South Africa for a story I did for the Africa Business magazine. I emerged the winner in the Agriculture and Food Security category. My story was looking at how a simple intervention is helping small-scale farmers improve production through good post-harvest handling, thereby boosting incomes and standards of life for these farmers.
