Personal Reference Letter
To whom it may concern,
While in the role of department manager for IBM System Operations (/NA SMO) at 100 Gough Rd.
in Markham, Ontario, Gary Poirier was under my supervision and reported to me for approximately 7
years from April 21, 2008 through April 10, 2015.
Throughout this time, I found Gary to be a continually solid performer dedicated to quality and
excellence in his work responsibilities, while exhibiting an exemplary and conscientious work ethic.
Gary is eager to learn new skills when needed, or through his own initiative. He is very willing to
seek and explore new avenues of efficiency towards the achievement of department and corporate
objectives.
Gary was a solid team player for our department throughout his tenure with me, as demonstrated
through his ability to drive numerous meaningful resolutions to staff issues, including those of his
second-level support colleagues. To that end, he collaborated well within the team and exhibited
friendly, but effective, written and verbal communication skills that supported all aspects of his dayto-day activities.
Entrusted to a key client-facing role with some of IBM’s largest third-party corporate customers,
Gary routinely provided outstanding 24/7 support as System Operations communication liaison and
acted as the first point of contact for client concerns, procedure changes, participation in upgrades and
other key projects; along with the support and development of process improvements. I received a
number of favorable written compliments over the years from customers about Gary’s excellent
contributions.
During my absences, Gary was counted upon to speak effectively and with authority in his
supervisory role in regards to management issues that arose, or in a timely manner as required to
fulfill my daily duties.
Gary received among the highest performance evaluation results in our department each year, and
was listed as an above-average or top contributor. He was also formally recognized many times
outside the normal review process, for his exceptional ‘customer-first’ leadership and performance
skills, in regards to a variety of high profile IBM or client driven projects.
I would certainly recommend Gary to any company looking for a reliable, friendly, and motivated
team-player.
Sincerely,
Dan Gorski
