Anyone can expect a dog to have a loving owner, its favorite toys, and a happy home with
nothing more to gain. But what if your pet becomes a celebrity? According to America’s Kennel
Club, Labrador Retrievers are considered the most popular dog breed. However, Corgis have
been on the rise years before and are now adored everywhere through just one platform Instagram. Here are the top four reasons why Corgis are social media's best friend.
They’re Magic
Corgis have been around a long time compared to other breeds. Many royal family members
like Queen Elizabeth II brought Corgis into their palaces for their amusement. During the 10th
century, Welsh people even thought that Corgis were a great source of transportation for fairies
and elves. With their spots having great significance, their back marks were considered saddles
for mythical creatures to use. According to Welsh Folklore, this stubby puppy had been dubbed
a great stallion in fairy battles as well. Hence the name, The Welsh Corgi.
Later, social media was born. Over time television and social media outlets started noticing that
the royal pets were gaining almost as much popularity as her majesty herself! This exposure to
the limelight increased their popularity, therefore, driving the Corgi craz.
They Have Cute Butts
Corgi rumps are one of the most verified sources of their newfound fame. Due to their fluffy
double coats, Corgis tend to have fuzzy rears. Corgis originally had long tails. However, it
became more difficult for them to herd and run. After Corgi tails became shorter through
grooming and breeding, the Corgi breed leaned into a more stylistic approach. Journalists
started writing Corgi butt articles, corgi butt journals, and even Corgi butt voting challenges. In
turn, views sky-rocketed on the Instagram algorithm giving leverage to Corgi butt photos and
fluffy puppy pics to enjoy.

They Like To Win
Corgis are considered agile and competitive dogs. According to the American Kennel Club, “As
herders bred to move cattle, they are fearless and independent. They are vigilant watchdogs,
with acute senses and a “big dog” bark.” Although small, Corgis are very athletic dogs and have
won herding competitions in popular dog tournaments such as The 2018 National Dog Show.
There are also yearly contests dedicated to their athleticism and command alone. These wins
are an elevation to their acclaim to go from herding dogs to athletic celebrities.
Although we do give a round of applause to our other canine pals, Corgis have surpassed when
it comes to Instagram. Corgi photo accounts on Instagram have gained an intense amount of
followers from their fairytale origin, fluffy butts, royal birthright, athletic prowess, and much more.
With having so much promotional background, Corgis have dominated the social scene from the
beginning of ancient times and years to come in the future.
