I started my career at a start-up in San Francisco where I resolved customers issues over the phone, email, and social media. I also complied data from our customer experience survey in order to present feedback to the company's management. In this role, I quickly learned that I was good at empathizing with customers, helping them feel heard, and successful in finding resolutions to the problems they were experiencing.
About a year into my role at the start-up, the company was acquired by JP Morgan Chase, and eventually the program ended. Around the same time, I was recruited by an investment adviser that works with institutions (most of which are non-profits) and the ultra-wealthy. My new role included a lot of the same responsibilities (i.e. answering phones and responding to client emails), but it also included investment operations. This meant I needed to learn a new industry since I had close to no investment or finance experience. At first it was a little difficult, but I also enjoyed the challenge. After a lot of hard work, I mastered the role. I even assisted with developing training materials, and personally trained approximately 10 new associates. Aside from learning a new industry, I also learned new client retention skills. I no longer was working with hundreds of customers a day, but instead assigned to 17 client contracts, meaning, I worked with the same clients every day. I worked with this firm for just under five years, and I loved this role. I truly enjoyed building relationships with my clients, and it was a hard decision to leave. After living in San Francisco for seven years, I decided to move back to Oregon (my home state!) to be closer to family.
Now, I'm looking for a position that will include what I love (being a customer advocate), but also provide me the flexibility of working from my small town in Oregon. I am not afraid to take on new challenges, as I always love learning something new. I am someone who always strives to give the absolute best service, and I am hoping to find a career with a company that truly values customer service.
