Experience
2017 – DG Global Forwarding -- Lead Developer
● DG Global Forwarding are a specialist shipping group. They oversee the shipment of tonnes of
highly hazardous and valuable cargo every day. DG required a management and tracking system for
shipments, to be used by its staff. A section was also required where customers can login, create
shipments, print legal documents and check the current location of their consignments.
● Built using Ruby on Rails, MySQL, JavaScript. 94% test coverage. Front end written in modular Sass
with Bootstrap 3.
● 50+ staff now operating the system with 500+ users also beginning use the customer platform.
2016 – Standby Scripting Systems -- Lead Developer
● Standby is an application designed to assist the coordination of large Television productions. They
are currently looking for another round of investment, after the successful delivery explained
below.
● The initial brief was to build a multi-page script editor, a la google docs, with the ability to apply an
array of interactive entities to text. PDF print outs were also required.
● The front-end, built in React with Draft.js, sits on a Rails 5 API and MySQL. I used Prawn and
JavaScript to produce PDF scripts.
● Conceived and built an analogous object relational mapping for storing and updating Draft.js
components.
2014 - 2016 - Morse Digital -- Ruby/Rails Developer
● Morse are a digital build agency in London specialising in digital build solutions, to some major
organisations. At Morse Digital I have built some of the following applications:
o An in-house modular ticketing system. A system now resold numerous times. Additionally,
Ruby Motion was used to build an IPhone app to scan QR codes and approve tickets.
o A table, food and drink reservation system that takes over £100,000 pcm in transactions, for
a large UK pub/club chain.
o Stock and event management tools for an events business.
o Dynamically driven search tools.
o Countless CMS’s and dynamically driven websites.
● A common stack at Morse is; Ruby on Rails, MySQL, HAML/ERB, Sass and either React, Angular, or
in older projects, Ember as a JavaScript framework.
● TDD is mandatory, all projects have 95%+ coverage.
● I quickly gained increased responsibilities while at Morse Digital, beginning to exclusively
coordinate and advise on projects on behalf of our clients, bringing back repeat business.
