(Darmstadt, Germany), Master's Thesis Intern February - November 2015 ● Thesis grade: 19/20 (Defended on March, 2016) ● Algorithm development for automatic segmentation of multiparametric magnetic resonance data. ● Achieved significantly superior results versus control method. ● Big data processing; used dataset composed by MRI data from over 100 patients to build and test the algorithm's statistical model. The algorithm was programmed on MATLAB. EDUCATION NOVA University of Lisbon, Integrated Master's in Biomedical Engineering September 2010 – March 2016 ● Master's grade average: 18/20 (3.6 GPA) ● Strong focus on programming, data processing/modeling, and physics. PUBLICATIONS Poster and paper publication: “Detection of epileptic seizures in long duration EEG data” Portuguese National Physics Conference, September 2014 ● First author of the publication. Two other contributors. The implementation was done on MATLAB. ● Programmed algorithm to automatically detect seizures in electroencephalografic recordings. ● The algorithm was built using a far less computationally expensive methodology than concurrent algorithms, yet achieved comparable robustness and accuracy. Obtained a detection rate of 86%. SKILLS Communication – I have lived abroad for almost two years. My experience abroad has taught me how to efficiently communicate with people from different ideological standpoints and cultural backgrounds. Teamwork – During my positions at Thomson Reuters, Priberam, EASA and VORTAL I worked within strongly collaborative environments. Analytical Thinking & Problem Solving – My engineering education made me an analytical problem solver, and the varied amount of fields I have worked in taught me how to apply this skill transversally. Languages – Portuguese: Native; English: Fluent; German: Intermediate (B1 at Goethe Institut) Programming Languages – Python, MATLAB, C, C#, Java, SQL, PHP. OTHER ACTIVITIES Traveling – I take great pleasure from discovering different cultures and realities. The more different the country I'm visiting is from my own, the more interesting I find it.
