Felix Okombo Resume
- |-Professional Summary
I am a strong believer in social constructivism, that knowledge is collectively constructed and that learning with assistance or instruction is a normal feature of human development. I lay more emphasis on my role as a teacher in creating stimulating and engaging environment and experiences for learners to trigger and guide the learning process as the learner interacts with the environment. The learning experiences must be carefully selected and must not only be relevant but also be within the learner’s ‘Zone of Proximal Development’ Vygotsky (1978). I heavily practice Bruner’s Scaffolding and contingent teaching, a careful balance between support and independence. Of even more significance is Collaborative learning and the role of peers during the process of learning. I believe that exposure to a differing opinion from another child (someone equal to them in status and power) would elicit conflict of opinion, then a force towards resolves of differences. These are the mental processes that constitute valuable learning.
