Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) Administrator for the Marine Corps Logistics Base
(MCLB) Albany. Hosting the Marine Corps Logistics Command (LOGCOM) and the Marine Depot
Maintenance Command (MDMC)/Production Plant Albany, the MCLB network infrastructure includes
150+ Cisco routers/switches, 1000+ Aruba Wireless Access Points (WAPs), and an Ethernet fiber/cable
infrastructure supporting over 2000 users across the installation.
LAN/WAN SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION: As a member of the 10-person Operations group, ensure the
availability, reliability, security, and performance of the MCLB base network infrastructure. Install,
configure, monitor, update, backup, tune, and maintain a broad range of LAN/WAN systems, including
Cisco routers/switches, Wireless Access Points (WAPs), Multi-Function Printer Devices (MFD),
industrial printers (Zebra), Voice over IP (VoIP), VPN, and other networking components enabling
connectivity with MCLB LAN and Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Internet Protocol Router
Network (SIPRNet) and the Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet) WAN
resources. Plan, coordinate, and install new approved Cisco IOS releases and other network operating
software. Apply senior level expertise with LAN/WAN technologies and advanced PROBLEM SOLVING
SKILLS to resolve complex network connectivity issues in concert with other MCLB technical support
teams, including the Field Service Team, Telephone Branch, and Facilities group. Typical network
incident and problem reports include failed network components, port security and configuration issues,
and desktop and printer moves/adds/changes requiring network installation. Repair/replace defective

NETWORK CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT/PERFORMANCE: Develop and present Requests
for Change (RFCs) for major network changes at MCLB Change Advisory Board meetings. Translate
approved RFCs into actionable plans to minimize impact and ensure the Configuration Management of
the LAN/WAN infrastructure. Monitor and analyze network performance to detect problems, identify
inefficient use of network resources, ensure compliance with network traffic priorities, and perform
capacity planning. Employ multiple network analysis tools, including Fluke Linkrunner testers and
Greenlee tone probes, to verify the integrity of LAN cabling infrastructure. Monitor and analyze network
logs to identify bandwidth limitations, network latency issues, and other system and network
performance and security concerns. Develop and implement backup/recovery procedures for
router/switch configurations, ensuring compliance with approved security standards and the rapid
restoration of service in the event of component failures. Conduct routine tests to ensure the
configuration management of user and printer switch ports, ensuring compliance with installation
security settings and the inactivation of unused ports.
INFORMATION SECURITY: Maintain a knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Marine
Corps (USMC) IT security policies, standards, directives, and procedures. Ensure network systems are
maintained at the appropriate IOS and patch levels and comply with the security controls mandated by
Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF)
continuous monitoring requirements. Conduct network vulnerability assessments; identify, report, and
resolve potential security issues with router, switch, WAP, and MFD configurations. Apply an
ATTENTION TO DETAIL in planning, implementing, and labeling network cabling and interfaces in
accordance with DoD and MCLB security policies and standards.

IT PROJECT MANAGEMENT/INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING/DELIVERY: Participate in facility
planning teams designing network architecture upgrades and technology refresh initiatives. Lead and
participate in multi-phased IT infrastructure projects to plan, schedule, install, expand, or upgrade new
networking solutions. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and their potential to enhance the MCLB IT

COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS in supporting a diverse customer community. Respond to Remedy-based
network service requests and problem reports from tenant unit Helpdesks across the installation,
including the Base Command, LOGCOM, and MDMC. Provide responsive support via telephone, email,
and in person to MCLB users for a wide range of networking, printer, and system support issues. As
needed, provide senior level assistance to MCLB tenant Helpdesks with complex desktop hardware,
software, integration, and usage issues. Diagnose and document the troubleshooting steps and resolution
of the service or incident request in the Remedy ticket and track the ticket to closure.
SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
MCLB Enterprise Wireless Project: Member of the cross-organizational enterprise team
planning and implementing a technology refresh of all Cisco access switches and installing
Wireless Access Points (WAPs) across the MCLB installation. This 2-year, $11M project will
implement the wireless capabilities needed to enable the use of handheld scanning devices across
MCLB warehouse and maintenance facilities. Oversee contractor teams providing installation,
configuration, and repair services for the project, ensuring their compliance with contract services,
terms, and conditions. Tested over 500 Aruba Wireless Access Points (WAPs) for wireless
provisioning and restored network assets damaged during the Albany tornado of 2017 that required
repair before implementation of the WAP solution. Received a Time Off Award (March 2019) for
contributions to this effort -).
2018 Hurricane Contingency Planning/Network Restoration: Complied with the provisional
planning in the MCLB Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) in preparing for the impact of two
hurricanes during 2018: Hurricane Florence (September 2018) and Hurricane Michael (October
2018). Coordinated contingency plans to establish temporary network access for a 40+ person
Marine detachment deployed to MCLB Albany to prepare for the temporary relocation of Parris
Island recruits to MCLB Albany for safe harbor in advance of Hurricane Florence. Following
Hurricane Michael, assisted with troubleshooting and restoration of base system infrastructure,
including networking and power assets, restoring full operation in less than one week (2018).
Network Time Protocol (NTP) Configuration Issue: Identified NTP configuration issues within
the Marine Corps Enterprise Network-NIPRNet (MCEN-N). After identifying multiple invalid
timestamps through network monitoring scans, launched a comprehensive automated scan of all
MBLB NIPRNet devices. Identified and rectified multiple devices where NTP was either not
enabled or improperly configured, ensuring compliance with STIG-mandated settings for layer 2
access devices (2018).
Zebra Barcode Printer Deployment: Deployed and hardened 34 Zebra barcode printers for the
Marine Depot Maintenance Command (MDMC). Reviewed the applicable STIG and developed
and implemented a device configuration fully compliant with all security standards. Interfaced
