Edward Parker

Before my journey into software development, I spent the bulk of my time in Hospitality. The difference I made in many people’s days is one of the things that led me to want to do more to better people’s lives. I also had to come up with solutions to customer’s problems, where they and the company were both happy. This took a massive amount of problem solving that was taught to me over the course of my experience before tech. Although I had always had a passion for coding, it wasn’t until I met a customer while working in pest control that introduced me a bit more to the day to day and what developers actually do. I realized that I could do this as well, and continue problem solving in a way that I had always found so fascinating. This is what really lit my passion for development, and with every piece of code I come across or new technology that is developed, that passion only grows.

I have started that step into tech with a 6 Month Intensive Full-Stack Bootcamp with Nashville Software School.

This was a simulated company Environment with SCRUM methodology. These were some of the key points:

• Hands on application of OOP fundamentals through group and individual projects reflecting real world business problems
• Source code version control and project management with Git/GitHub JavaScript fundamentals leveraging DRY, modular, readable code and reusable components
• Built browser-based single page applications using React, HTML, and CSS
• Styled applications with CSS Frameworks, Bootstrap and Materialize, and wrote custom styles as needed
• Application design through white boarding dependencies and building ERD’s
• Created and modified database design/content using SQL, ADO.NET, and ORM tooling, including exposure and experience with migrations Created RESTful APIs with C#/.NET using WebAPI
