I am a general and legal transcriptionist and the sole proprietor of EJWillTranscribeIt, I have been in business since November of 2020. Previously, I enjoyed a 32-year career as a teacher where I taught language arts. I have a BA in Liberal Arts and completed graduate work in English and Curriculum and Instruction. I work from my home office and am an independent contractor with transcription clients. I am not looking for an employer as I am self-employed. I am looking to acquire more clients that are in need of my transcription services and who are interested in a mutually beneficial business relationship. I have a website which states my rates. I actually charge by the audio minute. The "Pay Rate" box in this platform does not allow for me to state my rates. Generally, I charge $1.75 per audio minute. That means if you have a file that is 60 audio-minutes long, I charge $105. It doesn't matter how long it takes me in actual time, the price remains $105. Generally speaking, for every audio hour on a file, it takes 4 actual hours to complete. The transcription process goes as follows: A) Set up the transcript template. B) Type what is spoken on the file. C) Listen to completed transcript as I read it for accuracy. D) Research for jargon, industry-specific terminology, dates, names, etc. D) Final proofing.
