I currently lead and advise two AI-first startups: Nileflo AI, a healthcare SaaS platform using AI for voice-to-text, clinical decision support, and prescription automation; and a CRM for MSMEs featuring an agentic AI experience that surfaces actionable business insights. My role spans product vision, architecture, infrastructure, hiring, budgeting, UI/UX, and beta customer engagement.
Previously, I led VMware Cloud’s transition to a SaaS model—defining engineering strategy, streamlining business processes, and building systems managing over $1.2B in annual cloud usage. Earlier, I shipped large-scale SaaS products at Amazon across AWS, Alexa, and Prime Video, leading cross-functional teams from concept to launch.
I also bring deep platform experience, having worked extensively with both VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V, enabling hybrid cloud and virtualization solutions across diverse enterprise environments.
Professional Experience
VMWare Cloud, Sr. Director of Engineering. (Feb 2021 – Oct 2024)
Lead VMWare Cloud business in developing Multi-Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solution for Hybrid Cloud as well as cloud native customers. As an engineering leader, I worked closely with senior executives in defining the product strategy. I also lead engineering partnerships with AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and other public cloud providers for building Multi-Cloud products for hybrid cloud business. During my engineering leadership within VMWare Cloud, business grew from 40 customers to over 300 and revenue grew from $70MM to $620MM.
I played a crucial role during Broadcom’s acquisition of VMWare. It was a big transformation. I worked closely with executive leadership in creating business deep dives. Transformed engineering to align with updated business strategy and goals over 18months.
Key results delivered,
1. Transform culture. Educate, mentor and coach the organization on how to design, build and operate SaaS
2. Transform engineering practices to ensure scalable, extensible and secure IaaS business.
3. Lead engineering to fuel VMWare Cloud growth of over 73% YoY.
4. Define vision and strategy for VMC Commerce, Organizations management, and VMWare Cloud Provider Program.
5. Reduce operational cost of the engineering team by ~21% through surgical optimizations.
6. In partnership with Google, delivered GCVE Resell for VMC customers, unlocking a new business.
AMAZON, Sr. Manager (AWS, Alexa, Prime Video) (April 2014 – Feb 2021)
Amazon was a strategic move for me to learn and master cloud services. I led engineering at AWS, Alexa and Prime Video. Each of those experiences taught me a lot about solving complex problems for different domains and customers.
Key results delivered,
1. As an engineering leader for Amazon AWS CloudFormation, conceptualized, hired and delivered brand new service known as CloudFormation Stack sets, designed and launched in 14 months. Led end to end delivery by collaborating with legal, marketing, and business development teams.
2. Supported launch AWS Service Quotas by loaning my team to my peer.
3. As a STO (Single Threaded Owner) at Amazon Alexa led PM and Engineering functions for HVAC business. Leveraged Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning to deliver a game changing service that enabled third party smart devices manufacturers to integrate with Alexa. Known as Smart Home Primitives, this solution increased the number of devices integrated with Alexa by ~40% in a year. One of the best executed launches of my career, which required hiring a brand-new team of engineers, define the solution, collaborate with over 20 partner teams to deliver it within 10months.
4. As an engineering leader with Prime Video Catalog services, led offers, pricing and content publishing services. Delivered single Global Catalog, which reduced content publishing time for 3P providers by ~55%, reduced title duplication by ~19% which resulted in overall customer satisfaction improvement.
MICROSOFT, Engineering Manager (VS-Online, Windows Hyper-V) (May 2001 – April 2014)
I started my software development career at Microsoft. It was a dream come true. From a developer, I was offered a role to become a formal manager after I led a team without manager for 6 months.
Key results delivered,
1. Microsoft Visual Studio Online was one of the first developer products at Microsoft to be cloud enabled. Led a development team responsible for Developer Identity of VS-Online. Led integration with Azure Active Directory and OAUTH2.0 implementation for VS-Online.
2. As a development lead in Windows Hyper-V product team, led the Programmability of Hyper-V. Defined the WMI APIs that enabled customers and partners to programmatically manage their VMs.
I also led delivery of a Hyper-V which was part of bare bones Operating System for Azure. Had to collaborate with over 18 teams across Microsoft to deliver an OS that was less than 500MB in size.
3. As a team lead in Office Communicator (later Skype), led the team that implemented the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for the client to establish connectivity and set up communication channel with the other end points.
4. Developer owning feature design and implementation of Business Analytics and Monitoring for Microsoft Biztalk Server.
