About

I am a freelance writer with over ten years of experience. I have an Associate's in Journalism from Eastern Oklahoma State College, a Bachelor's in Biology from East Central University, and an Associate's in Marketing from Tulsa Community College.

I started my writing career as a technical writer working on operation and maintenance manuals and software utility manuals for flight simulators. Since then, I have written on a wide array of topics. I create blog posts, press releases, social media, and webpage content.

As I began my career as a technical writer, many of my clients have been in the technical field. I have written content for companies such as WizCase, CloudAlly, and Cloudwards. These sites focused on cloud computing and storage and virtual private networks. Most topics I covered were how-to guides for VPN and cloud usage or product reviews comparing companies that offer VPN or cloud services.

While much of my technical writing has been on cloud computing and VPNs, I have also written technical articles explaining the different uses and techniques for no-dig (trenchless) pipe installation and repair. The company I provided content for, Trenchlesspedia, offered insights into these procedures, and I often created guides on how the installation or repair would work using a specific method. I also wrote white papers for them and feature articles on new techniques.

One of my most current clients is a seal manufacturer. My job for this company, Advanced EMC Technologies, includes creating new blog posts regularly, creating content for their Facebook and LinkedIn pages, and monitoring their analytics and PPC Ad account. Many articles I post on their website and LinkedIn pages are technical. For example, I have explained the uses of PTFE spring-energized seals in the oil and gas industry.

I am not just a technical writer; I have also produced marketing content for clients to help draw in new customers. Generally, these tasks were either website copy, blog posts to boost SEO, or social media posts. For these clients, I have covered topics that include, but certainly aren't limited to

  • home organization
  • product descriptions (for Sam's Club)
  • Radon exposure danger and testing

I am familiar with SEO techniques and utilize them in all the content I create. I use Ubersuggest and Google Keyword tools to help create a list of successful keywords for each piece of content. I understand that keywords are important but not as important as quality content, and I understand how Google's algorithm uses multiple factors to rank websites. I use and recommend the Yoast SEO plugin to most of my clients who use WordPress. I find it a simple tool to help me check my SEO distribution.
