Dates December 1993 - September 1995 (age 19-21)
Roles Junior Mac Operator / Visuals Designer / Artist
I launched my career as an unpaid trainee Mac Operator, choosing experience over a degree. Over the course of
two years, I achieved a paid position and my duties expanded to that of visual designer, crafting product and
design mock-ups for clients. At the same time, I acquired knowledge in the foundations of brand design.
Cole Design (Graphic Design Agency)
Dates September 1995 – November 1996 (age 21-22)
Role Mac Operator / Web Designer
Looking to focus on digital design and learn web development, Cole Design allowed me to combine Mac
Operation with HTML training. I developed my skills during this period as a brand designer, learning and
implementing the complexities of corporate identity, using corporate guidelines, and developing copy and
content with a branded voice.

Dates November 1997 – August 2000 (Age 22-26)
Role Mid-Level Designer / Office Manager
Slap & Tickle, a Birmingham based agency, acquired a contract with Lloyds/TSB in the heart of Bristol and
required an experienced, but affordable design professional to oversee the inception of their new office. Initially
working alone for six months, I was joined by a co-manager to help with increasing workflow. The office
eventually employed two copywriters who worked alongside me to create copy and content, three Mac Ops and
two brand marketers. My duties included office management, web design, completion of projects from brief to
print, copy writing and content strategy, proofreading and logo design. Clients included Lloyds, Peugeot and the
International Maritime Organization (IMO).
