outside the field of law. As a side note, I hold dual citizenship in

COVER LETTER
15 Wonderboom Avenue,
Weltevreden Park, Roodepoort
Dear Sir or Madam,
-
Coming up with an enlightening and inspirational few paragraphs to convince
you that I'm an asset to your company is no easy task. In fact, I fear that it
may be an impossible one.
-
Words thrown together on a page aren’t going to give you any real comfort or
insight into the person you may, or may not, be inviting into your
organisation. So instead of trying to convince you as to why I'm perfect for
this position I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you what I've been through
to get to the point of applying for this very job.
For the past two years I've been 'plying my trade' at a law firm as an article
clerk (or candidate attorney). This essentially means that I've amassed many
an hour by the side of a strangely sympathetic and caring photocopying
machine and can multi-task numerous demands from numerous demanding
people. In addition to this impressive skill set, I've tried my hand at both
litigious and commercial drafting as well as the management of clients and
their expectations. Not to mention the myriad of times I've acted as the
middle-man, taking heat from the opposition as well as friendly fire from one's
own clients.
I'm leaving the field of law because I want something different. I'm not sure if
it's the career for me and when I sit day dreaming (during the precious few
minutes of my day that I have to myself), I can't help but obsess over the
thought of entering into a new challenge. I may not be all that qualified or
experienced for this position, but, like everyone else, I've never known how to
do anything until I did it for the first time. But unlike everyone else, I have the
qualifications necessary to succeed, and I do not have a record of failure in
any of my endeavors, and I do not foresee failing in my attempts in giving you
my time, energy and dedication.
I hope that this letter has perhaps achieved what I first believed impossible,
and given you insight into the type of person I am, and why I would be an
asset to your company. I look forward to meeting you in person.
Sincerely
C. Gordge
