My name is Christopher Harry, I am an Indonesian and I graduated from Pelita Harapan University majoring in English Education. I also got a media and communication diploma from Melbourne Institute of Business and Technology (MIBT).
My first professional experience was working as a journalist and translator in a Singaporean Tech magazine called Hardware Magazine for a year. Then I moved to become an ESL teacher in English First (EF) for Adults for 4 years. During my time in EF I was able to be promoted as a senior teacher within one year of my employment. I handled the academic flow of the school and also handled various requests and complaints from the students. I also managed staff and teachers meetings every week. I taught students ranging from the age of 18 to 70 years old.
After that I moved on to establishing my own online startup school called English Tyro. I was the co-founder and the head of academics. I was responsible for building the foundation of the curriculum and leading the academic team. However, often times I also went to business meetings to pitch to potential investors or conducting product presentation to potential clients. I also created content for company profile, class materials, and social media posts. During my employment there, I managed 4 teachers and 3 staff members. I also oversee the sales and social media department. We had roughly 120 students when I was in charge as the head of academics.
I have experience working remotely when I was building my own startup and I am quite familiar in using CMS software such as Slack or Trello. I am a fast learner and able to adapt quickly to the environment. Even though most of my background are in academic, I enjoyed working as a writer. I am looking forward and interested to learn a lot more skills and have more experience in various different fields.
