I started a trucking company when I was 22. It was a lot of fun, but I realized after 7 years I didn't want to do it forever. I needed something more intellectually stimulating. I eventually sold the company and began taking classes online and trying to learn new skills. I have earned over 40 credits so far at Southern New Hampshire University. I have also taken a couple of online classes through Udemy. I enjoy learning online, and I especially enjoy soaking up as much information as I can about virtually any topic.
I come from a construction background, and with my experience trucking it might seem like a major shift moving to a place like hubstaff. I really enjoy learning new things, and I find the new economy, and related work opportunities
fascinating. I recently moved from Wisconsin to Washington state, and the possibilities of remote work are very intriguing. Being able to golf, or go hiking, camping, take a short trip on short notice, flexible schedule possibilities; it’s all very exciting to me. The thought of being in a crowded office is very unappealing.
I like to think of myself as a quick learner, and reliable. If I say I am going to do something I do it. I can work virtually any hours. I will attempt whatever an employer needs me to do, even if it is outside of my usual responsibilities, or skill set. I like to write, love to do research, and consider myself a very creative thinker. I love coming up with ideas for businesses or just an entirely new business idea. I love to problem solve. A recent aptitude test I took listed my top 4 strengths as: Analytical, direct, adaptable and patient.
As for my home office, if that is important. I have a dedicated room in my house, with a bran new top shelf desktop computer, powerful, great graphics card, tons of storage space, 24” 4k screen. 150 mbps wired connection, although I have tested it, and seen as high as 173. Although I may lack a certain skill, I really do enjoy learning new things, and usually put a lot of pressure on myself to pick it up quickly. I think I am one of those people that hates losing more than I like winning. To me; doing it right, or winning, should be normal, and doing it wrong, or losing should be unacceptable. Maybe that’s the old fashioned mid-western construction roots talking.
