2. Artzbake
Position Title (Level): Partner
Specialization: Trainer
Role: Partner
Industry: Education
Monthly Salary: SGD 2500
Work Description:
Artzbake is a Baking Studio. I set up this venture with a business partner. I'm the resident trainer over there (conduct baking classes usually on weekends). The reason why I started off Artzbake is because I realise that instead of running my own cupcakery and selling my bakes to people, why not I teach them the proper skill to bake so they could do it themselves. It is also a good avenue for me to share my recipes which will keep spreading instead of dying on my own hands if I decide to stop baking for people one day. Running a baking studio is a complete different experience from running a cupcakery. For a baking studio, I need to assess all the equipments and utensils required to conduct a workshop properly and smoothly. Ingredients have to be stocked sufficiently too. Besides getting all the back-end works done, we also need to approach people to sign up available courses with us. At the beginning, we actually hit several setbacks. We approached Mummy Bloggers to have a baking session with us and their kids. In return they wrote blog posts for us, and even do up Youtube video for us as a form of advertising. Response is not that good, and thus we searched for other ways to get noticed. We approached LessonGoWhere and things started to spin off well from there. We manage to get corporate clients like SIA to have a baking session with us. Slowly we moved on to Facebook Marketing, which also proves to be very helpful in getting more participants from us. Gradually we moved from 200 Facebook likes to over 1000+ Facebook likes over the past 5 months. We also manage our own website, which is done up by my partner who has very good IT knowledge. Artzbake will still be running, but it has been decided with my partner that he will continue running it at his back-end since we have trainers teaching, and I could look for a job to maximise my time on weekdays.

3. Nouveau Patisserie
Position Title (Level): Chef/Owner
Specialization: Food/Beverage/Restaurant Service
Role: Chef/Owner
Industry: Food & Beverage / Catering / Restaurant
Monthly Salary:
Work Description:
Nouveau Patisserie is my first business venture. I started this off because it has always been my dream to have my own baking shop. I am glad to have achieved my dream at a young age of 23 then. It was a one-man show in running this business as I have to go from Running daily operations of the cupcakery to Baking, Purchasing Order, Marketing, Doing Deliveries, Serving and Any other ad-hoc duties. All from daily operations to customised orders. Though tiring, but it was a very fulfilling and meaningful experience for me. For the first time I put myself out of my comfort zone, in the perils of the real world outside. Faced with a lot of uncertainties ahead of me, I grew a lot in terms of how to face customers from all walks of life, to handling situations like a property tussle with a new landlord who took over the management of the place my cupcakery was located at. Despite some unhappy experiences I've had, there were many good and memorable experiences as well. My cupcakery had the honor to be featured on Sunday Times in March 2013, that made my business and branding stands out from a lot of new and rising baking shops in the highly competitive and dynamic F&B environment. Subsequently I was featured on U-weekly, Teens Magazine, and LianHe WanBao (a Chinese newspaper). I was also approached by People's Association to be their trainer, and it started off my teaching passion then. I did a charity teaching for about 100 children of needy families all around Singapore. Subsequently I taught at various CCs for adults. Somehow I find it more meaningful sharing my knowledge and experience through teaching baking, which led to me starting off Artzbake with a business partner.

4. NTU (National Technological University of Singapore)
Position Title (Level): Executive Officer
Specialization: Administration/School
Role: Executive Officer
Industry: Administration/School
Monthly Salary : SGD 2000
Work Description:
Handling Undergraduate Studies Matters in School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Chair's Office. Personal Assistant to Professor/Head.
This is the last office job that I have worked for before being an entrepreneur. The reason why I worked here is because I still required more funds to start off my baking shop then. As the time was not yet ripe for me to start off Nouveau Patisserie, it is more practical for me to work in a 5-days work week office job, so I still have time over the weekends to do my own planning and preparation work for my upcoming cupcakery.
