I was appointed as the Financial Manager at Aster International following the results of my APC results and registration with SAICA as a Chartered Accountant. I still have the same responsibilities as I had during being the Acting Financial Manager, which include:
- The close the financial year accounts and prepare the financial department for the audit of the financial statements.
- Assisting in setting up a new BBBEE ownership structure, including applying for finance therefore, and bringing the operations of the company in line with the new BBBEE codes of good practice.
- I have worked extensively on Microsoft Dynamis NAV as our accounting system and on Caseware Working Papers to draw up monthly reports and our annual financial statements.
- I have been appointed to assist in the update of the company's ISO Management System from the ISO 9001:2008 standard to the ISO 9001:2015 standard. Thereafter I will be appointed as the ISO Internal auditor. I have also attended intensive courses with TÜV Rheinland with regards to these responsibilities.
Acting FInancial Manager - Aster International (South Africa) Pty Ltd

I was appointed as the Acting Financial Manager after the previous Financial Manager left. I only filled the position temporarily until I received my examination results in March 2016.
During this time I had to close the financial year accounts and prepare the financial department for the audit of the financial statements.

Project Finance Manager - Aster International (South Africa) Pty Ltd
February 2015 - October 2015
During this time period, I was required to assist the project managers in ensuring that their projects ran smoothly finance wise, and that their budget was not overspent. Any over expenditure of budgets was discussed with the contract manager and resolved where possible. I would assist the Financial Manager in the drawing up of the project reports each month.
I was also assigned to assist with general accounting functions such as Fixed assets and installment sales agreements.
During this time I assisted the company in labeling all their assets and moving the asset register from a manual register to an automated register on the accounting system.
During this time I have also acted as the ISO Quality Management Representative for the company.

February 2012 – January 2015
I was an external audit trainee as per the requirements for my SAICA qualification.
During my training I was part of audit teams for many different industries, including Equipment Hire, Fast Food Franchise group, Home owners Associations, Wholesale distributors and many more. I also had exposure to auditing all sections of the Annual Financial Statements and have been the lead trainee on several audits.
During my training I assisted our Internal Audit Department in various audits such as fraud audits and assessment of internal controls with recommendations on improvement. During this time I was exposed to industries such as the medical distribution industry, platinum mining industry, Non-profit organisations, within and outside South Africa, and many others.
I was seconded in my last year to a medium-sized Air-conditioning company for 4 months and was Acting Financial Manager during this time. My duties here included, amongst others, drawing up monthly financial accounts and dealing with various taxation issues within South Africa and Botswana. Once completed, I was requested to stay on and assisted the company with the change in accounting packages, from Microsoft Dynamics GP to Microsoft Dynamics NAV. I was with this company until the end of my articles, January 2015.
During the year I was appointed as the ISO 9001:2009 Quality Management Representative and have assisted in realigning the ISO processes and procedures after the company reshuffled that preceded my appointment. I also attended a course for Internal Auditor, which was held by TUV Rheinland South Africa.
