During this time, I have learned a lot about Ruby on Rails, Javascript, and
BDD by contributing to RepairPal's web application (http://repairpal.com)
while I was making the most out of my front-end (XHTML/CSS) developer
skills.
I started out in 2008 by helping with their first complete redesign while
getting more and more into the back-end (working with Ruby on Rails and
Javascript, using Prototype and jQuery). I’ve built a mobile version of the
app using Backbone.js back when Backbone.js was considered cutting
edge.
From the car repair estimator (the heart of the app) to the repair shop
directory, from optimizing for page speed and response time (minimizing
requests, making use of caching and CSS sprites, etc.) to writing tests
with RSpec/Cucumber and managing a small Rails team, I've been
involved in everything related to the product's growth.
