GENERAL POLICIES
Personal use of the internet and electronic mail during scheduled
working hours is prohibited. Personal e-mail may be received and responded
to after the employee’s scheduled work day, and during the employee's own
time. Under no circumstances shall an employee access inappropriate internet
sites. (Example: Facebook, MSN, My Space, Twitter and Bebo)
All e-mails, personal or professional, sent to or from the Band computers are
the property of the __________________. The Employer reserves the right to
inspect all e-mail messages at management’s discretion.
SPECIFIC POLICIES
1.
Employees must use the Internet and e-mail in a manner that is appropriate
and consistent with the laws of Canada, __________________ Policy and
any applicable Supplementary Code of Conduct and Ethics and the terms of
their contract, as applicable.
2.
Employees must avoid intentionally accessing sites or engaging in practices
on the Internet that have the potential to bring the __________________ into
disrepute, such as accessing sites which promote, display or disseminate
offensive materials and must not solicit, distribute or otherwise communicate
offensive materials via e-mail.
3.
Employees may use the Internet and e-mail for personal purposes, provided
that such use is consistent with professional conduct, does not detract from
the performance of the individual’s employment or contractual responsibilities
and is not for personal financial gain.
4.
Employers must observe and honor all applicable intellectual property rights
(i.e. copyright, patent, trademark, license agreement) governing the
downloading, distribution or use of items such as text, graphics, music, or
software accessible via the Internet or e-mail.
5. Employees will be held responsible for their actions on the Internet or e-mail
taken under their assigned user account and for the actions of any client or visitor permitted to use these __________________ services.
