I am currently living in Turkey teaching English to university students - so I have expert grammar - although I worked for many years in the design, print and publishing industry - hence my total respect for deadlines, accuracy and reliability.

I am an expert copy editor, proofreader and book indexer. In fact I can say that I enjoy working with text. I enjoy the process of shaping ideas, organising information, tidying syntax and checking accuracy. My aim is always to create a text that flows for the reader, and that means free from confusing structures and literal errors. I also enjoy the indexing process, working through a book to categorise main ideas and concepts and building up a map of the content.

I work on non-fiction texts - books, journals, articles and manuals - on areas such as economics, politics, history, education, linguistics and computing in both UK and US English. Much of my work is making non-native writers sound native, which can require ruthless chopping, cutting and rewording.
