Implementation of the SNAP initiative (Support National Action Plan for the mitigation of Short-Lived
Climate Pollutants - SLCP) in coordination with the local government, NGOs, scientific institutions and
other national stakeholders. Main duties include:
- Elaboration of emission inventories of Green House Gases, Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (methane,
black carbon, ozone) and other air pollutants in Peru, using IPCC 2006 and EMEP 2016 methodologies
in the LEAP-IBC software.
-Analysis of main emission sources (agriculture, forest burning, cookstoves, aircrafts transport, land use
changes and industrial processes).
- Evaluation of mitigation scenarios (policies, strategies, action plans, programmes, projects, NAMAs)
on the reduction of SLCPs, projecting emissions until year 2050).
- Analysis of the co-benefits (health impacts and crop yield) in the reduction of SLCPs emissions and
identification of priority actions.
- Elaboration of a draft National Action Plan, to get its approval at a high political level and include SLCPs
in the planning process in Peru.
- Development of training sessions on the LEAP-IBC toolkit to strengthen institutional capacities within
the governments of Peru, Mexico and Costa Rica.
