I first dove into the Adobe Creative Suite back when it was the Adobe Master Collection, during my time in college. My journey started with Photoshop, where I created graphics for message board signatures and small projects, simply for the enjoyment of learning something creative with computers. It quickly sparked my interest in design and multimedia, and I knew this was an area I wanted to explore further.
While studying, I expanded my skills into animation with Flash, 3D Max, and Macromedia Director (yes, I still remember that!), where I learned the essentials of keyframing and movement. I also explored video editing with iMovie and Premiere in 2004, which led to earning certificates of competency in web design and digital art. Even though I had developed the skills and knowledge necessary to work in this field, opportunities were hard to come by. That’s when I shifted into IT, which allowed me to apply my technical abilities in a different way and gain valuable experience working across multiple industries.
Over the course of my 20-year IT career, I’ve worked with some of Silicon Valley’s biggest names—Cisco, Netflix, VMWare, Intuit, and nVidia, to name a few—primarily in IMAC roles (Install, Manage, Add, Change). I managed IT infrastructure for CPAs, provided critical support to retail environments, and handled server maintenance for remote teams. My technical skills have always been a strength, and I enjoyed being a problem-solver for a wide variety of clients and industries. Whether it was troubleshooting complex systems or delivering quick resolutions, I thrived on the challenges that each day in IT brought.
However, in recent years, I’ve become increasingly determined to change careers and return to video editing, which has always been a personal passion. While my IT career has been rewarding and sustained me for many years, I’ve reached a point of burnout, and I’m ready to take on new creative challenges. Video editing not only aligns with my advanced technical knowledge, but it reignites the excitement I felt back in college, working on creative projects that gave me a sense of accomplishment and purpose.
If you’re been impressed by my ability to close support tickets efficiently, I can’t wait to show you what I can do with a dual-display VR setup and a timeline to experiment with. I’m excited to bring my creativity, technical expertise, and newfound passion to your team, and I’m eager to contribute in ways that align with my skills, experience, and enthusiasm for video production.
