Brenda Montoya

I am an established mom blogger and published writer with a unique professional experience as a labor and delivery nurse.  I strive to establish connection and accurate information to the community of mothers and pregnant women looking for answers and reassurance.  I have worked in my profession for more than twelve years and have a breadth of knowledge uniquely blended with a voice which moms connect with.

I am passionate about providing the most up to date and accurate health information to the public, especially expectant and new moms. I am an AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) fetal monitoring instructor. I am committed to continuing the education of nursing staff with the most up to date accepted practices in our field. I have been active in my hospital's Perinatal Safety and Quality Committee - researching, reviewing and implementing the most up to date evidence based practices in the facility for OB and newborn care. Examples include updating the policies and educational materials in the following subjects:

• Marijuana in Pregnancy
• Trial of Labor After C-Section (TOLAC/VBAC)
• Hemorrhage Preparedness (Code White)
• Cervical Ripening and Fetal Monitoring Guidelines

I have a passion for writing and providing easily understood education to both the public forum and within the community of medical professionals. I am a hard worker and willing to take on new challenges outside of these genres as well.
