CoderPro.net is my company, and I have grown it from scratch to a team of ten freelance developers. I focused on acquiring clients through various channels, such as networking and online marketing. I also served as the lead developer and architect for most of our projects. In addition, I managed DevOps to ensure efficient project and source control management. Recent Projects
For over a year, I worked on the Dutch Tweede Kamer (House of Representatives) OpenData API. I created a service in .Net 8 (C#) that pulls all of the information from the API, transform it as necessary, and store it in SQL Server. Created a WebAPI that provides data not available in the pubic API and syncs the data between our database and TK.
After years of failed deliveries and unfulfilled promises, I upgraded America’s largest consumer plastics company, Sterilite’s website (https://ui4.sterilite.com). The website was upgraded from ColdFusion 4 (c. 2000) to ColdFusion 2020. The design was also a remnant from the 90s. There was no concept of either responsiveness or accessibility. I made the website responsive and more accessible (to WCAG 2 specifications).
South Africa’s ports, particularly Cape Town, are in crisis. Cape Town alone receives well over 5 million tons of cargo yearly. The ports suffer from theft from customs agents, either willing or unwitting agents of car theft (many coming from the US) and other products, and billions in lost, damaged, and delayed goods each year. I was contracted to help solve this problem, as I have previously solved similar issues on a smaller scale. I developed a responsive web application in Blazor (C#) with a SQL Server 2019 backend that searched an international stolen car VIN database. Upon arrival at the dock, vehicles are scanned with a large industrial scanner as they come off the boat. We target VINs and license plates but also capture a 3D picture of the car to establish proof of condition. If we can’t identify the VIN or license plate, dockworkers divert the vehicle for a quick manual inspection. After inspection, inventory is loaded back into containers, tagged, and moved to a warehouse or open area at the port for storage until pick up. When the box is dropped off, it is weighed again to ensure nothing disappeared; its barcode and a barcode on the ground are scanned, so staff knows precisely where every item is located in these vast complexes.
I created a contract manager for Fife.org that its client banks and customers could utilize to build and manage contracts between lenders and lendees. The system was a Classic ASP wrapper around the API provided by signable.co.uk. The source code is available here: FVA.Web.Signable.UI - Repos. I was also responsible for modernizing the design of https://kingdomcb.org.uk/ and creating a loan calculator in HTML5/Javascript.
I upgraded an ancient ASP.Net C# Web Forms-based system to Blazor (C#) with MSSQL backend and Dapper for relational mapping for the Australian Institute of Aboriginal & Strait Islander Studies. The system allowed subscribers (predominately universities) to search native artists for an array of info and prizes they won or were finalists. Developed custom authentication & authorization modules built upon the Identity Framework & extended the Identity Services’ [Authorize] Attribute to accept only a range of IP addresses and kick the user back to a renewal page.
I developed a .Net Core 3.1 Web API (C#) that utilizes standard identity services and API-key-based authentication to display barcodes and QR codes. It can either display one at a time, a list of barcodes & QR codes in sequence based on a list of numbers, or a zip file full of PNG files.
To create a passenger announcement system, I utilized WPF Core (C#) with Telerik Controls, Scala, Azure Translations, and Azure Text to Speech. The system automatically takes English text entered by an operator, translates it to Spanish, converts both versions to natural-sounding speech (MP3), and sends it to a Scala server. Finally, the message is broadcast to train stations throughout New Mexico (Rio Metro) in both audio and text.
I coded a solution with ASP.Net MVC (C#), SQL Server, AJAX, jQuery, and a few jQuery plugins to prototype an Azure Cognitive Services-based artificially intelligent full dialog (not just simple Q&A) bot. The bot uses many cognitive services (Bing Speech Text to Speech for & Speech to Text, Language Understanding Information Service, Text Analytics, Spell Check, and Translator). The AI, called Notson, could respond to text or voice queries via the website, Skype, SMS, or e-mail. I developed this while Cognitive Services was still in beta, the documentation wrong; things worked one day & often failed the next, but never relented until we had a stable & viable product. It was an honor to work on this program. It helps doctors and nurses ask Notson a question, uses AI to figure out everything they could have meant, and responds with an answer. This app could save doctors precious minutes or hours of research, which results in saved lives.
I maintained, updated, & extended the Umbraco 5 - 7 corporate website for eight years. I was responsible for on & off-page (outsourced) SEO and content marketing in newsletters and blogs. Fixed several official Umbraco bugs and pushed my changes to the official Umbraco repository.

I created a geofence to block specific regions to minimize spam and bolster security.
I created a comment management package that enables comments and moderation on any page.
I used ASP.Net MVC, C#, and Umbraco 7 to save a project that had gone awry for Texas megachurch John Hagee Ministries (https://jhm.org). After another company ran far in the wrong direction, spending nearly $100,000, I was hired by my client to remedy the issues. My client was facing nonpayment and possible litigation if not fixed on time. I coordinated with the two other organizations to completely redo the project with enhancements on time and under budget.
I created .Net Core 3.1 WPF (C#) with Telerik UI for the WPF application to pull job data from specific freelancing websites, job sites, RSS feeds, and Reddit. The majority of the data is stored encrypted on the user’s computer. CoderPro’s IdentityServer4-based SSO system handles authentication. The service layer is a .Net Core 3.1 API and uses Azure Cognitive Services to identify projects of interest to users.
I created a .Net Core 3.1 Web API and MVC with the Telerik UI website that renders barcodes in all possible formats & QR codes. Customers may enter a list of data, which is then exported to the desired format and either rendered to the screen or compressed and saved to a zip file.
I developed and extended a large Auctionworx Telerik UI ASP.Net MVC Toronto auctioneer website. Throughout this project, I was solely responsible for driving all technical facets of the business, from development to online marketing. Throughout this project, I extended Auctionworx to use some Azure services, including Cognitive Services, Bot Service, REDIS, Functions, DevOps, and BLOB storage.
I provided long-term maintenance to a legacy ETL Access database whilst aiding in the slow and often uphill battle with management to convert the many modules to a combination of Biztalk 2020, SSIS, and .Net Core.

I made technical recommendations relating to technology and information infrastructure. For example, we began utilizing BizTalk 2006 to streamline many of our previously manual processes, freeing up two IT resources (80 hours per week) once assigned to babysit our data upload process.
I utilized Biztalk 2006, Business Rules Engine, and MSMQ over HTTPS to successfully implement an incentive solution for the 2nd largest insurance company in the world. The implementation doubled IncentOne’s profits in two years.
I designed the solution’s database architecture using Oracle 10g & Toad.
I developed a system for Deloitte using VB.net and AJAX that dynamically generated forms, enabling managers to issue awards to individuals.

After three years of development through another firm, management fired the previous vendor and replaced them with me. In less than two months, I redeveloped the site in C# with a SQL Server 2005 backend, eliminated the old site’s bugs, and vastly improved speed, error reporting, and MLS/legal compliance issues. I redesigned the database to be normalized correctly and more “developer-friendly.” I implemented an architecture security plan to keep buyers’ and brokers’ information private. I improved the UI by using rollover layers to present more information to the user. I used web components and better class design to reduce web pages from over 300 to less than 50.
I utilized ColdFusion and SQL Server to fix problems caused by a previous development firm.
I redeveloped critical components of the site to utilize the Fusebox architecture.
I developed a DTS/SSIS package to gather national MLS data from a data aggregator and import it into the SQL Server database.

I utilized ColdFusion and SQL Server to migrate the server from one web host to another and upgraded ColdFusion Server & code to MX 7.
I developed an SSIS package to import data from a flat file into SQL Server. Then, I updated product search procedures to utilize temp tables when displaying all the relevant results from the various product tables (2 from vendor data feeds and 1 table provided by a product input page).
I fixed a problem with a custom tag written in Java that prevented a bulk invoice pdf generation servlet from functioning.

I worked with managers and developers to significantly overhaul the client’s technical infrastructure. The overhaul’s goal was to modernize many of their mission-critical operations in such a way that it would eliminate their dependence on legacy mainframe applications. The systems developed were:
Corporate Tax:
Data Translator - This system consisted of a scheduler component that would generate data detail files in flat file format and then process reports relating to sales, construction, 1099-MISC, and 1099-INT. To provide the best cost-to-benefit ratio, I developed the system to utilize SSRS reports, which I converted into Excel and finally transformed into text format for distribution to the end user. The latter two conversions were developed as a web service (C#) to promote reuse in other initiatives.
Web Site – This system allows FNF personnel to search for information about construction escrow, subsidiaries, and offices. This application was developed in ASP.net with VB.Net with an n-tier architecture.
National Business Unit: Developed a search form in VB.Net, enabling users to search for information relating to the various FNF business units. I accomplished this by writing one dynamic stored procedure and the multiple tabs of fields that feed the search criteria to the database.

I worked with solution architects and developers to rebuild the client’s business management system significantly. The system utilized a custom framework developed by Encore, which broke the vital components of development into separate classes (Data Access, Business Entities, Business Rules, User Interface, Persistence, and User Interface). Notes: A C# class utilized by a considerable portion of the framework. I developed the user control to call a new user control instance and set a property. At that point, it would enumerate all notes relating to a particular entity in the application. This, of course, also included an interface for reading existing notes and adding new notes.

Progressive Impressions/State Farm – Senior Consultant

I designed and developed a web-accessible document repository used for making abstracts of articles on the operation of the State Farm business units. This high-profile project was created for State Farm executives and was coded in Classic ASP with a SQL Server backend.
I designed and developed an upgrade to the existing Electronic Library, which houses information relating to all the agents throughout State Farm. The system featured the ability to upload photographs and signatures, store their addresses, advertising imprint, and employees, and was integrated with sfagentadvertising.com (State Farm’s marketing [print, television, & radio]). The system was developed in ASP.net (C#) with a SQL Server backend.
I designed and developed a system for managing digital assets. This system kept track of most of State Farm’s intangibles: graphic repository, web and software development, et cetera. We developed this system in Classic ASP with a SQL Server backend.
I developed a DTS package to capture data from various SQL Server demographic and statistical databases and post them into a single Oracle database used as a warehouse.

I developed an extranet site in ColdFusion with a SQL Server backend that allowed management to manage employees and clients, provided access to e-mail, and performed simple server management tasks (remote reboots and administration of pcAnywhere services). This business management tool handled customer relationship management, basic network diagnostics & operations, Accounts Receivable, invoicing, and other critical professional tasks.
I created a locale-focused dating site called singlesnight.net in Classic ASP, JavaScript, and SQL Server.
I developed an ActiveX component in VB 6.0 that uses voice recognition to perform everyday actions in my Customer Relationship Management Tool.
I developed a corporate presence in ASP.Net (VB). The site boasts a CRM system, SMS messaging, and a slick portfolio.
I upgraded the network from a Windows 2000 Server to a Windows 2003 Server-based network and implemented better security practices. The network topology consisted of the following: 1 Symantec hardware firewall, 1 PDC Running Windows 2003 Data Center, which serves as the gateway for the client workstations (running a mixture of XP and 2000), a web farm consisting of three Windows 2003 Standard Servers, one RedHat Linux server (connected through Samba) and 2 SQL Servers.
I created a DTS package combo to pull down XML formatted zone files from Network Solutions to determine domains created in the last two weeks and insert them into an SQL Server database. I then developed a Windows service that printed advertising materials with envelopes containing information from the zone files.

The basic premise of the sales vehicle was to attract property management companies by offering them a free and easy-to-use property and reservation management system that would list and manage properties on the travel agent and retail consumer sites. GCVR received a 20% commission on all sales in return for this service. GCVR is also in the property management business; thus, their properties were also listed. Under my technical leadership, these sites succeeded in capturing $723,000 between Q3 2002 and Q2 2003. I developed this solution in ASP with a SQL Server backend and JavaScript. Invoices are generated monthly with a DTS package.

Developed a content manager that ameliorated their means for managing publications in ASP.net (with SQL Server backend and client-side javascript).
I developed a decision support system to assist with managing the organization during winter weather events. The system keeps track of concurrent operations, materials expended/available, available equipment, and available personnel on the State, District, and County levels.

The Echo Group

I developed product enhancements for Echo’s flagship products, AMASE and ShareCare. AMASE is a web-based general ledger product, and ShareCare is a marketing software marketed to the Mental Health industry. Echo contracted Jaesoft to modify their products to be compatible with Oracle or SQL Server and develop new functionality by July 15, 2003, the delivery date stipulated by their client, CADDIS (California Developmental Disabilities Information System). The system utilized ColdFusion MX for the front-end development and a combination of SQL Server and Oracle for the backend. The stored procedures that I created for both platforms were written in TOAD. My focus was turning around a project that had gone astray and could have quite possibly bankrupted the company.
UPS
Upgraded all Access databases on a single server to Oracle with TOAD and modified any ColdFusion pages referencing said database to suit. This project had a very firm delivery date, as the server was to be decommissioned.

I monitored and provided essential maintenance to an international network. The vast WAN consisted of dozens of UNIX servers, several Cisco 8500s, and the rest of the hardware required to support such an operation. This network supported over 1,500 local and remote users.
I coordinated efforts of the help desk, server, networking, and Oracle groups.
I developed network diagnostic software in VB that conducted periodic pings, traceroutes, and determined various network services’ up/down status.
I provided support to a 100-member help desk.
