Postgraduate Research
“An Analysis of the Generation of Leaf Images using
Generative Adversarial Network, and the Activation
of Neurons during Classification using Bilinear
Convolutional Neural Networks”
My research examined the generation of images in an attempt to augment existing datasets with extra data, which
could be then used to train better classification models. During the classification process, I delved into how the neurons of the network behaved and which part of the images

played pivotal roles. The dataset chosen was the MalayaKew
leaf dataset. I was motivated to conduct this research to understand how GANs work, and to achieve a better understanding of how the neurons saw the input image, in the
course of which I examined the various images produced
at each layer.
I am currently in the process of re-writing it for publication.

I always take the opportunity to help my juniors advance
their skills. It is a good way to increase my own skills, as
teaching others increases your own understanding.
Passionate
I have been interested in computer science from an early
age. Grew up learning Logo, BASIC and HTML. Switched
to C/C++ in college, learnt JAVA in TCS, and Python during my Masters. I have a love of art, and that is what led
to learning OpenCV, to see if I can make digital art. That
also led me to learn about fractals and their usage in today’s
world.
