The aim of the project was to develop and implement an improvement strategy to
reduce wait times at the Eye Clinic
• Analyzed operational data to identify factors that were contributing to high
waiting times.
• Applied principles of cost accounting to financial data to identify loss making
areas to the CEO.
• Observed the entire process and interviewed all on ground roles in the
department to create detailed process maps (in Visio) and hence identified gaps
and non-value adding tasks.
• Created charts and visualizations to present the data and findings to the relevant
stakeholders.
• Set up targets and KPIs in the redesign phase of the project.
• Developed a theoretical simulation of the on ground situation to test suggested
improvements before piloting them.
• Led the pilot of the recommended redesigns and improvement strategies and
was able to successfully meet the agreed goals.
