I began my quest for knowing how the office environment works when I started an Industrial Training at Rivers State Ministry of Information.
I served as an office assistant where I was saddled with the responsibilities of receiving and dispatching letters. Not quite I left the ministry and continued my training elsewhere.
I had a wonderful spell at Niger delta development commission (NDDC) where I served as an Industrial Trainee Attaché. while at NDDC, I was able to learn how to transcribe recorded information into writing, since I served with the corporate affairs department. I had a background knowledge and as well as introduction to what office dealings, interpersonal communication, administrative assistant, event coverages, interviews and general office management entails.
It was an awesome experience that lasted for one whole year.
The next in line came about prior to my NYSC where I spent 5months with a computer business centre, which up my little experience in interpersonal communication, General running of an SME, day to day ensuring of a perfect working environment and customer's satisfaction.
During my NYSC, I saw myself in the educational faze, teaching the younglings as well managing their attitude was a progress and a plus one to me in anger management, tolerance thoughts. It helped me do some researches of the next topic to handle as to match the inquisitive nature of these kids who are ready to ask you "who is God". It was an experience i will never forget, and it lasted for a full year.
My first job after my NYSC was a 6month internship contract with one of the financial leading companies, United Bank for Africa (UBA).
My key responsibility was to market their social media(online) banking to the customers.
It was a Flagg-off of a new system where you can make banking transactions true social media, Wow, did I mention to you it was breathtaking? Guess I just did, its called Leo the virtual banker. It had me developed my one on one skill in dealing with customers.
Stanbic IBTC pension managers saw me going through settlement of disputes between clients and uncredited pension funds. I did the reconciliation aspect, making sure the funds paid to Tom, Dick and Harri's accounts truly gets to them, irrespective of the mistakes of their pension RSA pins and names. I enjoyed every bit of it.
Geo-Reysting products and services had me there inventory works, I handled their storage, managed their goods and see to the direct order from a client and assures it gets to the delivery point as needed.
