Arunika Herath

I am a finance professional, educator, and digital content creator with over fourteen years of experience spanning corporate banking, financial analysis, academic teaching, and content development. Throughout my career, I have built a strong foundation in financial management, credit analysis, and project appraisal while also developing a passion for knowledge sharing and communication.

My professional journey began in the accounting and finance field, where I gained practical experience in financial reporting, bookkeeping, and management accounting. I later moved into the banking sector, where I worked in corporate and project lending roles at leading financial institutions in Sri Lanka. During this time, I specialized in credit appraisal, financial modeling, covenant monitoring, and corporate client evaluation. My responsibilities involved analyzing financial statements, assessing business viability, preparing credit proposals, and supporting lending decisions for corporate and SME clients.

Over time, I progressed into leadership positions, including my role as Delivery Manager in lending services at an international knowledge services firm. In this role, I managed a team of analysts supporting a multinational bank’s wholesale lending operations. This experience strengthened my expertise in risk management, credit analysis, and financial research while also developing my leadership, project management, and team development skills.

Alongside my industry career, I have always been passionate about education and mentoring. I have served as a lecturer at several higher education institutions, teaching financial and management-related subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. My teaching approach focuses on bridging theory with practical industry experience, enabling students to understand complex financial concepts through real-world examples and case studies.

Academically, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management (Accountancy), an MBA from the University of West London, and professional qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA, CGMA). I also completed a Master’s degree in Financial Economics from the University of Colombo, further strengthening my expertise in finance and economic analysis.

In addition to my professional and academic work, I am also involved in digital content creation. I manage lifestyle, travel, and food-related digital platforms where I produce video and written content designed to engage and inform audiences. This creative pursuit complements my analytical background and reflects my interest in storytelling, communication, and digital media.

Through my work in finance, education, consulting, and content creation, my goal is to combine analytical expertise with clear communication to create meaningful value for businesses, students, and audiences.
