Arochu Robert

I am a registered urban planner with the Society of Professional Physical Planners of Uganda and hold a Bachelor’s in Urban and Regional Planning from Makerere University. My professional journey spans several key roles in Uganda and beyond, where I have contributed to the design, preparation, and implementation of physical development plans and detailed urban designs. My technical proficiencies include Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD), which I routinely apply in mapping, report writing, and the production of high-quality planning documents.

I have worked as a Physical Planner and GIS Officer at Latitude Consulting Group Ltd., where I was instrumental in developing physical development plans, conducting community participatory meetings, and preparing presentations for various stakeholders. Additionally, my role as a Local Coordinator for the JICA Expert Team with Oriental Consultants Global Co. Ltd. involved coordinating data collection surveys on human migration, refugees, and vulnerable groups. In these positions, I have efficiently managed the logistical aspects of research permits, organized local meetings, and maintained detailed records to ensure project success.

Furthermore, my experience extends to international assignments where I served as a Landuse Planner with Sering Ingegneria and as an Urban Planner with the JICA Expert Team, focusing on formulating comprehensive development frameworks and detailed plans for urban areas such as the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area. I have also successfully executed specialized projects including master planning for universities, physical development plans for municipalities, and detailed planning for refugee hosting districts.

My strengths lie in meticulous data analysis, effective stakeholder communication, and a keen ability to integrate community insights into practical planning solutions. Fluent in English and Ateso, and conversant in several local languages, I excel in bridging cultural and technical divides to facilitate sustainable urban development and innovative planning practices.
