Interpreting data to make it readable, recognizable, usable, and valuable is what I propose to make a career in. And I’ll be more or less routed in that direction once I complete my Master’s Degree in Computational Mechanics from University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany.
I’ve already had some exposure to the field of Big Data thanks to the few major projects I had to work on as part of my Graduate Program. These projects were on Diabetic Patient Profiling, Employee Attrition Analysis, and Movie Analysis. In these projects, I analyzed data sets using Machine Learning and Forecast Models to find out what kind of people were more likely to become diabetic in the near future or leave the company for example. I also learnt how to plot and visualize data using histograms and other statistical representations.
These and other smaller scale projects put me in touch with some awesome computer technologies like Python and R Studio. In the process I not only picked up hands-on experience in other tools like C, C++, Hadoop, Spark, Scala, Matlab, SQL, Matplotlib, Numpy, and Pandas, I also became reasonable acquainted with spoken and written German!
I’m currently on the lookout for a good internship program or Master’s Thesis in the field of Data Science. Once that is complete, I hope to make a successful career in the same line as well.
I would love to discuss any opportunities in this scientific field and can be reached at arjun.geeda@gmail.
