Blog outlining the "secrets" for a peaceful life
The Secrets to Leading a Calm and Peaceful Life
Ever feel like your life is completely out of control, like a rollercoaster with no breaks?
Sure you do.
I mean, you’d have to be nailing this crazy thing we call life to not feel that way at some
point or other. Which I certainly ain’t!
In this post, I’m going to share with you 5 tips for a more centred approach to life.
These little life hacks work for me. And I’m sure they’ll work for you too!
1. Try to chill out
I get it, I really do.
Some people just test your patience.
But the next time you feel yourself getting all hot under the collar, ask yourself this: Is it
really worth getting so worked up you resemble a volcano about to erupt?
The answer is usually a resounding ‘No’!
Yes, it’s easy to fly off the handle, but no one ever took a point on board after being
subjected to the hairdryer treatment.
So the next time John from accounting messes up your pay, take a second to actually
think about the benefits of blowing your top.
What will inevitably happen is that you will end up looking like a psychopath.
A better approach may be to calmly email him instead of marching straight into the
accounts department like Genghis Khan into China.
2. Consider leaving social media
Oh dammm…
Did I actually just go there?
Yup.
Social media is toxic. You know this as well as I do.
So I ask you this: Are you really missing out by not Instagramming your Quinoa salad?
Or checking on Kim K’s latest story?
If the answer is ‘no’, which I’m guessing it will be, then you should seriously consider
hitting the uninstall button.
Another good test is to go through your feed and see just how many positive news
stories there are.
And I’ll make a bet with you now…
The negatives will far outweigh the positives.
If I’m wrong feel free to ridicule me in the comments below.
3. Acceptance
Everybody has their beliefs, right?
You might not be surprised to learn then, that not everyone agrees with yours!
And that’s fine!
In 2023, there is a marked shift towards positivity and inclusiveness, which I’m guessing
you probably agree is a good thing.
Like a chameleon, change is happening. And the sooner we all learn to accept that not
everybody thinks the exact same way, the calmer and more peaceful your short time on
this little blue marble will be!
4. Learn to let go
You show me a person who hasn’t been screwed over at one point or another in their
lives, and I’ll show you how to squeeze blood from a stone.
There’s a famous, two-word phrase in the English language, the second word of which
is ‘happens’.
You can probably guess the first word.
If you can learn to let the small things go, you will find that inner peace you’re searching
for. Just like a sailor finding calm waters in a stormy sea.
Of course, some situations are harder to let go than others, but you will find your life’s
journey much easier if you learn to just let stuff slide.
Like a knot you’ve finally managed to untangle, letting go - and dare I say, forgiveness can be liberating.
5. Form meaningful connections
Let me tell you a quick story…
My old coworker was one of the most negative people I’d ever met.
Guess what happened?
I felt myself slowly turning into him. Shedding my caterpillar shell and morphing into his
butterfly.
Although he wasn’t a butterfly. Far from it.
Thankfully, I realised this before it was too late and cut him out of my life.
Instead, I decided to focus on positive relationships with people I actually admired and
respected.
You know the ones I mean.
Family members and people who actually make it fun to be around them.
Now go forth into the world, young grasshopper, and try to put these secrets into
practice!
